Taste of Cranberry Helps Community Sample Local Restaurants

Try delectable samples from some of the region's finest restaurants.

It's the time of year again to pig out on delicious food prepared by local Cranberry restaurants.

The annual Taste of Cranberry is this Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m at the Cranberry Township Municipal Building.

Back for its 13th year, the event is hosted by the Pittsburgh North Regional Chamber of Commerce and will have 15 different northern area restaurants sampling some of their finest grub.

"It's an opportunity for the Pittsburgh North Regional Chamber of Commerce to showcase some of the outstanding restaurants in our region," said Jim Stewart, director of programming and events. "It's also an opportunity for folks to come and get a taste and hopefully try some new things and discover some new restaurants."

Past events have seen nearly 1,000 attendees as well as numerous non-food vendors there to promote their services and information.

While the Pittsburgh North Regional Chamber of Commerce does facilitate the event, Stewart calls the gathering "ostensibly a community event" with deep roots in the community.

"It's open to the public so it's so not driven by or for our membership," he said. "It's an opportunity for us to say 'hey' to people, to get people out to try some new things and discover some restaurants that they want to enjoy as patrons."

For the Pittsburgh North Regional Chamber of Commerce, the night is not about making proceeds, but about making a difference in the community and providing an evening of scrumptious snacks.

"We are looking for another great time and another great day," Stewart said. "It's part of who we are and what we do."

Sponsors for the event include North Hills Toyota Scion, Dollar Bank, UPMC Passavant, Huntington National Bank, C. W. Howard Insurance Agency, Inc., First Commonwealth Bank, Minuteman Press, General Rental Center, ESB Bank, Pittsburgh Business Times, Upper Cervical Health Centers of America and Butler Eagle.

Adult admission to the event is $15, and child admission for kids 12 and under is $10. Bring the whole family for an evening of tasty fun.
