Cranberry Public Library Awarded $230,000 State Grant

The money will help pay for half of the library's building project costs.

The Cranberry Public Library was recently awarded a $230,183 state grant through the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund.

Cranberry is one of 15 libraries awarded funds out of 28 libraries from around the state that applied in October, according to the Tribune Review.

Leslie Pallotta, library director, told the Trib the project is expected to cost roughly $460,000, so the library requested half. The township will match the grant amount.

The money will help cover a portion of the library's building project, which includes: a large multi-purpose room that could be divided into a pair of meeting rooms; three or four small tutoring rooms; an outdoor reading garden; new HVAC units; roof repairs and some electrical upgrades.

The Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund was established in 1993 and works to improve recreational and educational resources in Pennsylvania's communities, including public libraries.
