Leslie Uriss Spehar is a freelance writer and communications consultant. She spent much of her career working in the publishing industry in Chicago where she served as a production director for a text and tradebook publisher, a managing editor for a national nonprofit organization and a section editor for a magazine. After relocating to the Pittsburgh area in 2001, she served as a communications director at two nonprofit organizations doing everything from writing newsletters and managing public relations to designing brochures, updating web sites, and organizing trade show exhibits.

After years of writing for other people and organizations, Leslie decided to spread her wings and write something that is completely her own. Thus, the Unhip Chick blog was born. In the pages of the blog, Leslie takes you on a journey as she tries new products and offers commentary on all things she considers "chickalicous."
