It's "A Great Day for Hockey" as Pittsburgh Rallies for Tonight's Pens Game Against Philly

The county executive and mayor have declared Wednesday “A Great Day for Hockey,” and they are encouraging fans to show their Penguins pride by donning the team’s colors to mark the first home game in the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Philadelphia Flyer

A “Ground the Flyers” rally is planned at the Allegheny County Courthouse Courtyard downtown beginning at noon today. Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and the Pittsburgh Penguins are organizing the event.  Bob McLaughlin from the X Morning Show will emcee the event, and Iceburgh is expected to attend. Kardaz Brother will provide musical entertainment while Turner’s Dairy and Snyder of Berlin will be on hand to provide refreshments to attendees. Pens Rally Tomorrow in Downtown Pittsburgh

The Penguins will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato and Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl will have a rally for Penguins fans at noon Wednesday at the Allegheny County Courthouse courtyard.  Onorato also declared Wednesday "Black and Gold Day" in Allegheny County. The Penguins will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Consol Energy Center in the first game of the Stanley Cup playoffs.  Penguins mascot Iceburgh will be on hand for the rally, which will feature live music and snacks for fans. Fans are encouraged to don back and gold throughout the day and bring nonperishable and canned food items to the event to be donated to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.  Fans attending the game are asked to wear white to create a "white …
