And the Most Expensive Home Sold in 2012 in the Cranberry Area Is...

Check out the houses listed among the region's 50 highest-priced real estate home sales in 2012.

Two Adams Township homes made the Pittsburgh Business Times' list of the 50 most expensive home sales in the Pittsburgh region. Based on 2012 real estate transactions, 112 Lakeland Drive purchased in Adams ranked No. 23 in the region at $1.375 million. Ghulam Abbas et ux bought the home, which came just ahead of a $1.077 million purchase at 319 Cambridge Drive in Adams. That purchase by Raymond Drabicki ranked at No. 46. Real estate purchases in nearby Pine Township, Marshall, Franklin Park and Sewickley also made the top 50, according to the Business Times. Seneca Valley Jumps to No. 12 Spot in Region’s Top Districts

The district, which was ranked no. 15 in last year’s findings, is the highest scoring school in Butler County.

Seneca Valley continues to make its way up the ladder in the Pittsburgh Business Times annual school rankings of districts across the Pittsburgh area. Seneca Valley ranked 12th out of 105 districts in the region, which is three higher than the no. 15 ranking it received in 2012. The district ranked at no. 16 in 2011.  Superintendent Dr. Tracy Vitale said district officials were elated to learn the news Friday when the findings were made public. “We have made significant changes, in a short amount of time, that are certainly evident in these rankings,” she said. “I am most proud of our students; they work hard and are very involved in making Seneca Valley one of the best school districts in the region.”  This year marks Seneca Valley’s …

Pittsburgh Wealthiest Zip Codes: Where Does Cranberry Fall on the List?

The Pittsburgh Business Times compiled a list of the top 50.

Cranberry has made the top 10 of the wealthiest zip codes in the Pittsburgh area—twice. The Pittsburgh Business Times compiled a list of the top 50 wealthiest zip codes in the Pittsburgh area by examining median incomes. With a median income of $121,466, Cranberry is included in the no.1 wealthiest zip code, Warrendale. According to the Pittsburgh Business Times, the Warrendale zip code includes Marshall Township and Cranberry. Individually, Cranberry also made the list at no. 7. with a median income of $89,603. Several other surrounding communities also made the list. Adams Township was no. 5 with a median income of $96,564. Harmony (Jackson Township) was listed at no. 35 with a median income of $57,343. Guess Which Community is No. 1 in Home Sales?

If you guessed Cranberry, you’re right on the money. Adams Township gets the No. 2 nod.

On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Business Times posted the top 10 communities in the region by 2011 home sales. The numbers were based on figures from RealSTATs' listing of total dollar volume. With a total dollar volume of $159, 565, 810, Cranberry was ranked No.1 in the region. Taking the No. 2 spot was neighboring Adams Township. "Cranberry Township earning the No. 1 spot in total homes sales in 2011 is another indication of the value of good planning and the implementation of those plans, including investing in community infrastructure," said township manager Jerry Andree. Seneca Valley Jumps Up a Spot, Ranks No. 15 in Region's Top Districts

Upper St. Clair is named the top school for the seventh year in a row.

Seneca Valley has jumped up a notch in the Pittsburgh Business Times annual school rankings of districts across the Pittsburgh area and the entire state. The findings were released Friday. Seneca Valley ranked 15th out of 105 districts in the region, which is one higher than the no. 16 ranking it received in 2011. Last year, Seneca Valley was named the highest-scoring district in Butler County. This year, that honor goes to Mars Area School District, which ranked no. 13 on the Pittsburgh Business Times list of top schools.
