Cranberry Updates ‘Most Wanted’ List—View It

People with active arrest warrants wanted by Cranberry Police include those charged with prostitution, theft, DUI and more.

Cranberry has updated its “Most Wanted” list on the township’s website with information on new people with active arrest warrants from the Cranberry Township Police Department. Besides names and photos, “Most Wanted” also includes the crimes the individuals are charged with. Cranberry added the feature in January at the request of the police department. At the time, township manager Jerry Andree noted public awareness is one of the best ways to find people. Residents are warned not to approach or attempt to apprehend any of the suspects. As people are added or taken off the list of active arrest warrants, the site is updated with the new details. Do you know how many drinks you can have before you're in danger of getting a drunken driving violation?  Officers in the Cranberry area and state police are always on the lookout for drunk drivers, particularly over the St. Patrick's Day weekend. When police pull drivers over for suspected drunken driving, officers ask them to perform field sobriety tests and to take a breath test to measure Blood Alcohol Content. A BAC test measures the percentage of alcohol present in a person's bloodstream. Pennsylvania's legal limit is 0.08. Update: Cranberry Police Say Speed to Blame for Crash that Injured Four Teens

The 17-year-old driver was the most seriously injured person in the crash.

Cranberry Police said a female teenage driver was speeding before she crashed in front of the Manheim Auto Auction along Route 19 in Cranberry Friday, injuring herself and three others. “It appears just to be speed issues,” said Sgt. Chuck Mascellino, who added the teen was not texting or using her phone when the one-car crash occurred. Of the four juveniles in the car Friday, Mascellino said the 17-year-old driver was the most seriously injured. The teen, a Valencia resident, had broken bones and a head injury, he said. The other passengers, a 19-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy suffered minor injuries, Mascellino said. All three of those teens are from Gibsonia. Cranberry New Year’s Eve Partiers Charged with Firing Bullets into Homes Heading to Court

Bullets shot off during a Dec. 31 celebration struck two homes in the Fernway neighborhood.

Three people charged with shooting off guns during a New Year’s Eve party in the Fernway neighborhood in Cranberry and striking at least two homes with bullets are heading to the Butler County Court of Common Pleas. Christopher Nemit, 29, of Pittsburgh, Rachel Sherd, 28, of Cranberry, and Lucinda Jones, 34, of Finleyville, on Friday waived their preliminary hearings before District Judge David Kovach in Cranberry. All three are charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, recklessly endangering another person, criminal mischief, permitted use of firearms and disorderly conduct. Four Teenagers Injured in Route 19 Crash in Cranberry

The teens are taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Cranberry Police and fire crews were called to the scene of a one-car crash Friday that sent four teenagers to the hospital. Cpl. William Ahlgren said the teens, who were not identified, were heading south on Route 19 at about 8 p.m. when the female driver lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason near the Manheim Auto Auction. The red Chevrolet Cavalier went up an embankment before striking a pole and a wire fence in front of the auction. All four teens were taken by ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Ahlgren did not know the extent of their injuries. Human Remains Discovered in Cranberry Identified as Missing Butler Man

Christopher Menosky originally was from Beaver County.

The human remains discovered along Dutilh Road in Cranberry Feb. 16 have been identified as a missing Butler man. Cranberry police Sgt. Chuck Mascellino said investigators used dental records to identify 47-year-old Christopher Alan Menosky, who was reported missing in July. Mascellino said Menosky’s last known address was in Butler. He originally was from Beaver County. Police do not know how Menosky died at this time, Mascellino said. The investigation did not indicate any foul play. “We don’t suspect anything suspicious at this time,” Mascellino said. Investigators were able to identify Menosky with help from a wallet with identification in it found near where the skeletal remains where discovered across from Dutilh United Methodist …

Man Charged with Selling Heroin in Cranberry Heading to Court

Thomas R. Herdlick was arrested as part of a Drug Task Force investigation of heroin sales in the area last spring.

A Cranberry man charged with selling heroin in the area is heading to the Butler County Court of Common Pleas. Thomas R. Herdlick, 29, of Laurel Drive, was arrested last June by Cranberry Township police officers working with the Butler County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force as part of an investigation into the sale of heroin in Cranberry. He is charged with four felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and two misdemeanor counts of intentional possession of a controlled substance, according to court documents. After waiving after a preliminary hearing before District Judge David Kovach in Cranberry, he is set to be formally arraigned April 2. Although arraigned before Kovach last June, Herdlick’s …

Remains Found in Cranberry May Be Missing Beaver County Man

Investigators find a wallet with identification in it near where the skeletal remains were discovered Saturday.

The human remains found along a wooded area of Dutilh Road in Cranberry over the weekend may be those of a Beaver County man reported missing in July, investigators said.   Sgt. Chuck Mascellino said police would not release the name of the man, who is believed to be in his 40s, until a positive identification is made on the remains. “We have a tentative idea of who it is,” Mascellino said. Investigators found a wallet with identification in it near where the skeletal remains where discovered Saturday across from Dutilh United Methodist Church, Mascellino said. Update: Human Remains Found in Cranberry Township Taken to Mercyhurst University

A man walking toward Cranberry Mall found the remains Saturday afternoon.

A forensic anthropology team from Mercyhurst University in Erie is assisting Cranberry Township Police in identifying human remains found Saturday afternoon in a wooded area along Dutilh Road. A man walking from UPMC Passavant-Cranberry to a Cranberry Mall found the skeletal remains about 2:30 p.m. on hospital property near Dutilh United Methodist Church (see map). Officers said clothing indicates the remains were that of a man and that there was no apparent cause of death.
