Readers’ Choice Poll: Freedom Square Diner Nabs Best Brunch Win

Fans of the family-owned restaurant pushed it ahead of First Watch.

Congratulations go out this week to the Freedom Square Diner! The family-owned restaurant on Freedom Road blew away the competition in this week’s poll asking readers which business in the Cranberry area serves up the best brunch. The diner received 78 percent of the votes. In second place was Cranberry’s First Watch, which had 12 percent of the votes. “We just appreciate all the people in Cranberry,” said Shawn Cross, whose family owns the restaurant. “We do a lot for them and we appreciate that they voted for us.” Besides serving up a great meal, Freedom Square Diner also is heavily involved in working with local charities, including the Cranberry CUP, The Miracle League of Southwestern Pennsylvania—which has its field at Graham Park in …

Freedom Square has such a great menu, so many choices and you can't beat all the special discounts they offer. I totally love their breakfast menu, I am amazed that each and every time I have been served the "perfect" egg, I don't know how they do that. My only wish for improvement would be to install privacy walls on the back of the booths, I don't like the feeling of being in one big open room…   more ›

Readers’ Choice Poll: Moe’s Southwest Grill Named Best Place to Grab a Kid’s Meal

The chain serving up Southwest fare beat out North Park Lounge and Red Robin.

Employees at Moe’s Southwest Grill in Cranberry typically shout, “Welcome to Moe’s!” as customers walk through the door. After getting the results from this week’s Readers’ Choice poll, it’s evident parents also are welcoming Moe’s stuffed burritos and tacos into their kids’ stomachs. The fast and friendly food chain serving up Southwest fare was named the winner of this week’s poll asking readers to tell us which restaurant in the Cranberry area serves up the best child-friendly fare. Moe’s received 43 percent of the votes. In second place was North Park Lounge with 16 percent of the vote. Congratulations Moe’s! Thank you also to those who voted in our poll. And the Winner of the Fish Fry Poll is…

It was a tough choice between St. Kilian and St. Gregory.

After a lot of voting—and some great comments—we’d like to congratulate St. Kilian Parish for being named the winner of this week’s Readers’ Choice poll. St. Kilian’s, which is located on Route 228 and Franklin Road in Cranberry, is the Readers’ Choice based on the number of votes and comments the church received for its annual fish fry. We’re also giving St. Gregory Catholic Church in Zelienople special recognition because of the numerous positive comments the church received for its popular fish fry. A total 600 people voted in the poll. Of that, St. Kilian’s received 318 votes. St. Ferdinand Catholic Church received 134 votes and St. Gregory followed close behind with 125 votes.
