Map: Seven Places to Avoid Because of PennDOT Projects This Weekend

Update from PennDOT: Work on the ramp connecting the Liberty Bridge (Route 3069) to northbound I-579 (Crosstown Boulevard) has been canceled this weekend.  The ramp will remain open. PennDOT is working hard to finish up several key projects as the road construction season winds down. There are seven areas where it will be slow going this weekend. At the top of the list is the McKees Rocks Bridge, which will be closed from Friday night through Saturday evening. Click on our interactive map which shows which areas to avoid.

Map: Which Five Roads to Avoid This Weekend

PennDOT is working hard to finish up several key projects as the road construction season winds down. There are five areas where it will be slow going this weekend. At the top of the list is the inbound Squirrel Hill tunnels which will be closed Friday night through Monday morning.  Intermittent, short-term single-lane and shoulder closures also will occur in several locations on I-79 and I-376 (Parkways East and West) from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday, weather permitting, according to PennDOT District 11. The I-79 road work will occur in both directions between the Bridgeville (Exit 54) and Parkway West/Pittsburgh (Exit 59) interchanges, and the Parkway North (I-279 Exit 72) and Cranberry (Exit 76) Click here to take you to our interactive map…

Six Places Where PennDOT Could Slow You Down this Weekend

In addition to several roads and ramps, the inbound Squirrel Hill tunnel will be closed all weekend long.

PennDOT is working hard to finish up several key construction projects before the weather turns nasty. There are six key projects going on this weekend, including a few which will continue for weeks to come. The one with the biggest impact is the closing of the inbound Squirrel Hill Tunnels Friday night through Monday morning.  We've got a map to show you which areas to avoid, along with links to more information about the individual projects. Traffic Alert: What's Open and Closed This Weekend

See where PennDOT crews will be the busiest.

Cranberry area drivers heading south, east, or west should have few detours from PennDOT this weekend. However, the same cannot be said for the return trip home. Here's this week's orange cone alert: Parkway East (I-376) Squirrel Hill Tunnel Rehabilitation Traffic in the inbound Squirrel Hill Tunnel on the Parkway East will be restricted to a single lane from 9 p.m. to 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights for tunnel rehabilitation work.  Grant Street Tunnel improvements Inbound Parkway East will be closed between Grant Street (Exit 71A) and the Fort Pitt Bridge/I-279 ramps from 9 p.m. on Friday through approximately noon Saturday. Crews will be performing repairs in the tunnel that carries Grant Street over I-376. The ramp from Grant Street …

Traffic Alert: PennDOT Has a Busy Weekend Planned

A warning for all Cranberry area drivers, several major roads will be either closed, or traffic restricted this weekend, according to PennDOT. Parkway East  Squirrel Hill Tunnel Rehabilitation Traffic in the inbound Squirrel Hill Tunnel on the Parkway East will be restricted to a single lane from 9 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday for tunnel rehabilitation work. I-579/Crosstown Boulevard/Veterans Bridge Ramp/bridge improvements The southbound I-579 Veterans Bridge will be reduced to a single lane from 8 p.m. Friday through approximately 6 a.m. on Monday for expansion dam replacement and resurfacing. In addition, the ramp from the inbound (northbound) Liberty Bridge to northbound I-579 (Crosstown Boulevard) will be closed to allow crews to …
