Seneca Valley Operating on Two-Hour Delay Monday

The area remains under a winter weather advisory until 2 p.m.

The Seneca Valley School District is operating on a two-hour delay Monday after a spring snow storm coated the area overnight. The kindergarten schedule is as follows: St. Kilian Parish School in Cranberry and St. Gregory in Zelienople also have issued a two-hour delay for Monday. Nearly all of western Pennsylvania, including Butler County, remains under a winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service until 2 p.m. tonight. Winter Weather Advisory: Updated Snow Forecast

The National Weather Service is warning drivers of hazardous travel conditions.

Thus far, March is certainly doing its best to come in like a lion. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from 6 p.m. Tuesday through 7 p.m. Wednesday for the Pittsburgh region. Snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are predicted in the Cranberry area, according to the weather service. The flakes are expected to start late Tuesday afternoon as a mix of rain and snow moves into the area. The most intense snow could fall overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. The weather could cause hazardous travel conditions due to snow-covered streets. Motorists should prepare for limited visibility on the roads. Temperatures will reach a high of 40 degrees Tuesday before dropping to 29 later in the evening, according to the…

Updated Winter Weather Advisory: Mixture of Snow, Sleet, and Freezing Rain Predicted for Morning Rush

The area is under a winter weather advisory through 1 p.m.

There could be very little rush to the Monday morning rush hour. The National Weather service in Pittsburgh has issued a winter weather advisory from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday for most of Western Pennsylvania, including the Cranberry area. A mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected overnight into Monday morning. Because very cold ground and snow pack, roads and sidewalks are expected to be icy. Areas of freezing rain and mixed precipitation will transition to all rain later Monday. ice accumulation of up to about a 10th of an inch is possible. UPDATE: National Weather Service Issues Snow Storm Warning for Area

Accumulations of 4 to 8 inches is possible.

Although there's no snow yet, Butler County remains under a snow storm warning issued by the National Weather Service. The warning is in effect from 5 a.m. Monday to 2 a.m. Tuesday and calls for residents to be on the lookout for heavy, wet snow. Snow accumulations of between 4 to 8 inches is possible. According to forecast, the rain falling across the area today will turn into snow. Forecasters warn the combination of strong winds and the heavy, wet snow has the potential to bring down tree limbs and power lines and may spawn power outages. Winds will be northwest at 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph possible. Temperature will be in the lower to mid 30s. Visibility on Monday may be reduced to less than one quarter of a mile, the …
