Restaurant Spotlight: Pork-n ‘Nat

Lots of Cranberry area restaurants, shops and other great places can be found in our directory. Review them here!

This week's restaurant spotlight is on Pork-n ‘Nat, located at 8032 Rowan Road in Cranberry. Opened more than a year ago at the former El Sombrero, Pork-n 'Nat is a family owned and operated restaurant offering barbecue dining to its patrons. The menu specializes in smoked barbecue dishes of pulled pork and ribs. It also offers a variety of sandwiches, salads and appetizers that make up the “Nat” portion of the restaurant’s name. And yes, the “ 'Nat” is a reference to the tendency of Pittsburghers to add a slangy “and that” to the end of their sentences. There is also a catering menu available to order from that can be used for parties and other social events.  Prior to opening Pork-n ‘Nat, owner Don Haefner operated a temporary concession…

Not real Q. Real Q is smoked over a pit not in a propane powered stainless steel smoker. Clem's in Blairsville is the closest we have to real Q. I wish we could get a Rudy's up this way. I've tried Pork n At 3 times and it is overpriced and not very good at all. Black's in Lockhart, TX is the best Q I've ever had.   more ›

We had my son and his bride's rehearsal dinner here. It was wonderful. The food was magnificent, the service was perfect and the bride and groom were so happy with everything. We will definitely be using them again for more events. I would reccommend the Zucchini Parmesean - it is the best!   more ›

Where's Bravo's? We've always had excellent food & service there. House of Chen used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant in Cranberry until they changed owners...the food has really gone downhill.   more ›

Lots of Cranberry area restaurants, shops and other great places can be found in our directory. Review them here!

For this week's restaurant spotlight, we go just beyond the Cranberry area to Bonnie & Clyde’s, located at 12087 Perry Highway, Wexford. To go along with the gangster theme, a replica of the Bonnie and Clyde’s infamous getaway car, a 1937 …

I like Bonnie & Clyde's! Really tasty burgers and fries... and the Meatball and Salad is tasty. I have been there on nights they have live music in the past, which was nice. I'm not sure if they do that anymore...   more ›

For this week's restaurant spotlight we travel just outside the Cranberry area to The Oven Pizza Co., located at 2000 Village Run Road in the Village at Pine. Menu items include brick-oven pizza, specialty pizzas, salads, pocket sandwiches, paninis, soups and breakfast paninis. All-natural hot wings and selections for children are available. I like BRGR, even though I've never had a burger there because I don't eat them. But they have other things on the menu that are good; great salads with chicken added. But my favorite is the pickle fries! so good!   more ›

Bites Nearby: The Happy Hour Extravaganza - Part Two!

Hey, it beats joining a bowling league.

Writer Kelly Burgess took readers on a Happy Hour Tour last week. Here is the second part of that adventure. Day 3: Cranberry/Mars and cultural confusion It was Day 3 of our Happy Hour Extravaganza! I was dropping off some marching band-related paperwork to a fellow volunteer, and I told her about my happy hour adventures. "That is so cool," she said. "My husband and I have been looking for different things to do now that the kids are older, so we joined a bowling league. Happy hours sound like much more fun!" It was, but it also was a little difficult to do this every night, four nights in a row, for those of us who have passed the happy-hour-quick-recovery age by a couple of decades. But here we were at happy hour No. 5… …Domenico's, …

Bites Nearby: Grazie Restaurant & Event Center

Great food, good service, good wine: Get in there and eat!

Overview: Grazie is located in the Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford. Once part of the North Park Lounge chain of restaurants, it is now privately owned. There is also a Cabana Bar on the athletic club premises, adjacent to Grazie, which is still part of the North Park Lounge group. It's an over-21 bar with just a few food choices. The Cabana Bar is right next to a large, outdoor pool. Grazie is Italian-themed, but there is a wide variety of food on the menu. The menu is a work in progress and is not online at this time. Based upon the signs we saw, the theme of the restaurant seems to be, "Get in here and eat!" Just like home. We were there on a Sunday evening and it was not busy in the indoor dining area. However, the large, outdoor …
