Government Recalls 800,000 Fisher-Price Rock 'N Play Sleepers

Consumers should inspect their infant recliner seats.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled about 800,000 Fisher-Price Rock 'N Play Sleepers due to risk of exposure to mold for infants who use them. Mold can develop between the removable seat cushion and the hard plastic frame of the sleeper when it remains wet/moist or is infrequently cleaned, posing a risk of exposure to mold to infants sleeping in the product. Although mold is not present at the time of purchase, mold growth can occur after use of the product. Fisher-Price has received 600 reports of mold on the product. Sixteen consumers have reported that their infants have been treated for respiratory issues, coughs and hives after sleeping in the product. Nestle Recalls Nesquik Powder in Canisters from U.S. Stores

The voluntary recall involves Nesquik powder only — no other products, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Nestlé USA has announced a voluntary recall of some quantities of its Nesquik Chocolate Powder mix stocked in stores nationally due to a potential risk of Salmonella contamination. The voluntary recall involves only Nesquik powder sold in 10.9-ounce, 21.8-ounce and 40.7-ounce canisters since early October, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. It does not involve other sizes of Nesquik powder or Nesquik ready-to-drink products, according to the FDA. Affected products bear the UPC codes 0 28000 68230 9, 0 28000 68090 9 or 0 28000 67990 3.  The company ordered the recall after learning that a component used to make the powder may have been contaminated with Salmonella, which can cause abdominal ailments. Penn State Creamery Voluntarily Recalls Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt

Popular creamery opts to recall products sold from May 16 to Aug. 11 due to reports of plastic objects found in it.

If you stocked up on ice cream or frozen yogurt during a summer visit to the Penn State Berkey Creamery at the University Park campus in State College, better check the label before you finish off what you've got left. The creamery is voluntarily recalling all ice cream and frozen yogurt it produced between May 16 and Aug. 11 due to isolated reports that people have found small plastic objects in the frozen treats, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. No injuries have resulted from those incidents. Proctor & Gamble Recalls Iams Dry Dog Food

Iams ProActive Health Smart Puppy dry dog food has been recalled due to higher than acceptable aflatoxin levels.

The Procter & Gamble Company has voluntarily recalled a single production lot of dry dog food due to aflatoxin levels that were detected above the acceptable limit. The affected product is Iams ProActive Health Smart Puppy dry dog food with Use By or Expiration Dates of Feb. 5 or Feb. 6, 2013. The seven-pound bag has a Code Date of 12784177I6 and UPC Code of 1901402305. The eight-pound bag has a Code Dates of 12794177D2 and 12794177D3, and UPC Code of 1901410208. The 17.5-pound bad has Code Dates of 12794177K1 and 12794177K2, and UPC Code of 1901401848. Badia Spices Recalls Pine Nuts Sold in PA Stores

Nuts sold in Pennsylvania and other states may be contaminated with Salmonella.

Badia Spices Inc. is recalling approximately 3,800 pounds of pine nuts sold in stores in Pennsylvania and four other states, saying the nuts may be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis. Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. The nuts were imported from Turkey and later recalled by Sunrise Commodities of Englewood Cliffs, NJ.  Those bulk pine nuts have been linked to an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis illness. Samples of the bulk pine nuts analyzed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and in various states have tested positive for Salmonella. Giant Eagle Announces Recall of Lettuce, Sandwich Rings

Those items may have been contaminated by listeria, which causes food poisoning.

Giant Eagle, which has locations in Cranberry Township and Seven Fields, has issued a recall of bags of shredded iceberg lettuce, as well as certain sandwich rings, because they may have been contaminated by listeria, which causes food poisoning. Any customers with bags of "F.M. shredded lettuce" with the UPC code "3003430195" should return those bags to Giant Eagle for a full refund. Because contaminated lettuce may have been used in Giant Eagle's Italian, New York and All-American sandwich rings, customers who return those sandwich rings also will recieve a full refund. Kraft Foods Global Inc. is voluntarily recalling three varieties of Velveeta Shells & Cheese Single Serve Microwaveable Cups with limited best-when-used-by dates as a precaution due to the possible presence of small, thin wire bristle pieces. There have been no reports of consumer injuries or complaints. Kraft Foods is issuing this voluntary recall out of an abundance of caution. Whole Foods Recalls Beer Marinades

The grocery chain said products sold in Pennsylvania may cause severe allergic reactions.

Whole Foods Market is recalling two beer-flavored marinades sold in Pennsylvania because of unlabled wheat and soy allergens in the foods, according to the Food and Drug Administration. Individuals who have an allergy or sensitivity to soy or wheat run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reactions if they consume the marinades.  The marinades are Whole Foods Market Stout Beer Marinade and Whole Foods Market Lager Beer Marinade, both made in Landover, MD. The products came in 15-ounce plastic bottles and were sold between July 3 and Aug. 3.  No illnesses or allergic reactions from the foods have been reported. The products were also sold in Ohio, Virginia, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Kentucky and Maryland.  Customers who …
