Leave the Kids in Cranberry: Township Plans ‘Parents Night Out’

Cranberry’s parks and recreation department will supervise the children while you and loved one head out for date night.

Parents, mark your calendars now. Cranberry’s parks and recreation department is hosting a “It's Kids Night In, Parents Night Out” on Friday, March 22 The three-hour event is for children ages 5 through 12, allowing their parents to go out and paint the town red. Included is a kid-friendly movie, snacks, crafts, games in the Cranberry Municipal Center gym, and Wii—all under the watchful eye of township staff. The adult-to-child ratio will never be lower than 1:8, a statement from the township said. Advance registration is required. What’s going on in your child’s school? Find out in person when Seneca Valley school officials meet at 8 p.m. Monday at the Intermediate High School in Jackson Township with their workshop meeting. The board is expected to review its student wellness policy as well as a new allergy policy. The Seneca Valley Senior High School will host a college and career school fair from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the high school gymnasium. About 85 school representatives from state universities, private colleges, community colleges, technical, beauty, nursing, art, culinary and business schools and the military will be in attendance at the event. We’re not in New Orleans, but that doesn’t mean we don’t know how to celebrate Fat Tuesday. Cranberry Patch has searched high and low for your lineup of weekend party events. Now the only question is, Do you have your Mardi Gras beads ready? 1.  The Boys Next Door When/Where:  1:30 p.m. Sunday at The Comtra Theater on Route 19 in Cranberry Township. Why Go: Be entertained for a good cause. The play is about four mentally disabled men who live in a group home. Proceeds benefit the Mental Health Association of Butler County. Cranberry Public Library is also hosting a Mardi Gras event. Stop by the library on "Fat" Tuesday, March 8 at 7PM for live Dixieland music performed by the North Hills Symphonic Band.
