Motorists on Route 19 should be on the lookout for lane closures Tuesday. The southbound lane of the highway at the intersection of Old Freedom Road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today because of temporary road repairs. The right turn lane onto Freedom Road (next to Denny’s restaurant) also will be closed.

After hearing testimony about an unresolved issue between a business owner and a developer, the Cranberry Township Board of Supervisors continued a public hearing for a proposed Sheetz gas station and convenience store on Freedom Road. At the hearing Thursday during the board's meeting, Dr. Mike Sradomski, who operates a dental practice next to the location of the proposed Sheetz, testified that he is concerned about restrictions on a shared driveway in an agreement with Sheetz. The driveway would connect his property to the Sheetz parking lot and give his patients access to a intersection with a traffic signal on Freedom Road. Developers for the convenience store and car wash now will go before Cranberry's Board of Supervisors.
Members of Cranberry Township’s Planning Advisory Commission on Monday gave the green light to plans for a new Sheetz gas station and convenience store on Freedom Road. Sheetz officials now will seek approval from the township’s Board of Supervisors at its July meeting for the 6,558-square-foot station and freestanding 1,049-square-foot automobile wash. Planned for the site of a former beer distributor on Old Freedom Road, the proposed gas station would be built about 300 feet from a smaller Sheetz station that’s been on Freedom Road for the last 15 years.
