What’s Under Construction in Cranberry in April?

Take a peek at some of the commercial developments opening soon in the township.

It seems like everywhere you look in Cranberry these days there’s a crane or a bulldozer at work on a new development. Here’s a look at a few of the upcoming commercial developments, including photos, opening soon Cranberry. After months of grading and site preparation, construction is underway for a 4,997 square foot Sheetz gas station and convenience store at the intersection of Route 19 and Ehrman Road. In a private-public partnership, Sheetz also is helping to fund a traffic signal at the intersection of Ehrman Road and Route 19. Sheetz spokeswoman Monica Jones previously told Cranberry Patch the new gas station could open by fall. Bishop Signs Final Steel Beam Set Atop New North Catholic High School

The school is the first the Pittsburgh Diocese has built in 45 years.

As he readied to sign his name to a white steel beam at the site of the new Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School under construction in Cranberry, Bishop David Zubik said he doesn’t see the upcoming decommission of the school’s location in Pittsburgh’s Troy Hill neighborhood as a closure. Instead, he views it as giving birth to the new school. “It’s really a dream come true,” he said. Inviting construction workers to join him, Zubik was the first to sign his name on the ceremonial beam, which was then hoisted onto the school’s steel structure Friday as part of a “topping out” ceremony. “Topping Out” Ceremony Set for New North Catholic High School in Cranberry

One of the last steel components for the new Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School in Cranberry almost is in place. On Friday, the Diocese of Pittsburgh will hold a “topping out” ceremony at the site along Route 228 as a ceremonial steel beam is hoisted onto the structure. Then it’s back to work. Michael J. Arnold, chief facilities officer for the Diocese, said the project is now entering its seventh month of construction. “For the most part, we’re tracking on schedule,” he said. Expected to open in time for the 2014-15 school year, the 179,000 square-foot private school is located on 71 acres near Cranberry’s border with Seven Fields. La-Z-Boy, 5th Avenue Fido Get Final Approval

Cranberry area residents will soon have a new place to shop for furniture well as a unique facility to take the family dog. At Thursday’s Board of Supervisors meeting, Cranberry officials unanimously gave final approval to plans for a La-Z-Boy at the Cranberry Crossroads shopping and office plaza. Developer Phil Bishop of ECHO Realty said the 12,063 square-foot furniture store would be the final piece to the development, which currently is under construction on Route 228. When finished, the shopping center will feature a two-story Dick’s Sporting Goods at its center. Bishop said the store would function as a showroom gallery only, meaning customers won’t be able to cart their furniture choices from inside the building on the same day they …

A small groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday for the new Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School in Cranberry. The proposed 179,000 square-foot private school is slated to be located along Route 228 on 65 acres near the township’s border with Seven Fields. Bishop David Zubik is expected to attend the ceremony along with representatives the Diocese of Pittsburgh and North Catholic High School. The high school, which will accommodate as many as 1,000 students, is the largest building project that the Diocese of Pittsburgh has undertaken in recent history. Route 228 in Cranberry is getting a facelift—and that includes multiple construction projects. Work has begun on a coordinated series of traffic enhancements along a three-mile stretch of the highway. Cranberry Planning Commission Delays Plans for New North Catholic High School

The board wants developers to address questions before giving a recommendation for approval to Cranberry’s board of supervisors.

It’s back to the planning board for North Catholic High School. Officials at Monday’s planning commission meeting delayed approval of a land development application for the new Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School along 65 acres in Cranberry until their next meeting on. Feb. 27. Ron Henshaw, Cranberry’s director of community development, said the commission had questions regarding traffic flow and the alignment of a new road the school proposed to build in the hopes of easing traffic. Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School is set to open in time for the 2013-14 school year.

Plans are moving forward for the new Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School in Cranberry Township. At Monday’s Planning Advisory Commission meeting, Cranberry officials approved grading for 37 acres on the school’s future home along Old Mars Crider Road and Route 228 near the border of Cranberry and Seven Fields borough.  The Diocese of Pittsburgh in 2010 announced plans to close the school’s building in Pittsburgh's Troy Hill and move programs to Cranberry in response to population growth and shifts in the North Hills. “It’s a great location for it,” said Michael Arnold, chief facilities officer for the Pittsburgh diocese. “There’s a lot of growth in this area.
