Fans of HGTV’s Showhouse Showdown got another chance to dish with host Bob Guiney and the show’s designers Friday during a special re-airing of the Cranberry episode. In August, HGTV and Stone & Co. Entertainment partnered with Pittsburgh’s Heartland Homes to film an episode at the Mystic Ridge development in Cranberry Township. The show also filmed in September in the Edgewater at Oakmont neighborhood. Cranberry will be featured on television at the beginning of March, when the season premiere of "Showhouse Showdown" airs on HGTV. In each episode, two professional interior designers take over two newly built houses with mirror-image floor plans. The designers will compete head-to-head, creating five signature rooms in each house using identical budgets and on the same schedule. Keeping the stakes high and the designers on track will be host Bob Guiney, from ABC’s "The Bachelor." Area residents who attended the Cranberry taping of HGTV's Showhouse Showdown can see if they appear on TV in March. About five episodes of Showhouse Showdown have aired on TV. Cranberry's episode was the eighth to be filmed and was expected to air in October. Due to competition during the Monday night television lineup late last year, HGTV postponed airing the series. More than 750 people showed up Saturday for the filming of "Showhouse Showdown" in Cranberry. HGTV and Stone & Co. Entertainment partnered with Pittsburgh’s Heartland Homes for the series, which is being filmed in cities across the country. The show pits two experts against each other in competition to design the best model home. Judges who choose the winning look are selected from the community where the show is being filmed. But in Mystic Ridge, a new neighborhood in Cranberry, competing interior designers will decorate the model homes with the winning look that the public chooses. And it will all be filmed for TV.
