Seneca Valley Grads Ready to Play Each Other in NFL

Cranberry natives (and best friends) Brandon Fusco and Don Barclay will be on opposite sides of the field when the Green Bay Packers take on the rival Minnesota Vikings.

For the second time in a month, two graduates of Seneca Valley High School will play against each other in one of the NFL’s biggest rivalries. Brandon Fusco, a 2005 graduate, and Don Barclay, a 2006 graduate, both are starting offensive linemen in the NFL. On Dec. 30, they will play on opposite sides of the field when the Green Bay Packers take on the Minnesota Vikings. Fusco and Barclay didn’t just go to the same high school together. They were best friends and grew up just five houses apart from each other in Cranberry. After their high school graduation, Barclay went on to play for West Virginia University. Vikings Draft Former Seneca Valley Center

Brandon Fusco is selected in the sixth round of the National Football League draft.

Former Seneca Valley High School and Slippery Rock University center Brandon Fusco said football has taken him “pretty far” since he joined local youth teams at age 7. The journey might be just beginning. The Minnesota Vikings drafted the 6-foot-4, 305 pound Fusco with the seventh pick (172nd overall) in the sixth round of the National Football League draft on April 30 at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Fusco admits there are no guarantees in the modern NFL, a $9-billion annual business where careers can be short and the pressure to win is intense.
