Mars Man Pleads Guilty to Possessing Child Pornography

A Mars man charged with possessing computer files that depicted sexual exploitation of a minor pleased guilty Thursday in federal court, according to United States Attorney David J. Hickton. Thomas Stetz, 55, who has addresses listed on Caromar Drive in Mars and on Lindbergh Avenue in Pittsburgh, pleaded guilty to one count before United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab. In connection with the guilty plea, the court was told Stetz had graphic files—the production of which used a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct—on his computer last April. Schwab scheduled Stetz’s sentencing for 9:30 a.m. Aug. 3. The law provides for a sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both. Under the federal sentencing guidelines, the …
