Those hoping to learn more about the Pittsburgh Steelers football season from a Steeler himself should head to the Giant Eagle in Cranberry this weekend. Veteran linebacker Larry Foote will be at the store on Route 19 in the Cranberry Mall from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 to meet with fans and sign autographs. Foote’s appearance at the store is part of a partnership between the Steelers, Giant Eagle and Pepsi that gives customers and fans alike an opportunity to interact and meet with their favorite players. They came. They saw. They shopped. The new Dick’s Sporting Goods in the Cranberry Crossroads retail center on Route 228 officially opened at 8 a.m. Friday with a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring Cranberry Township Supervisor Chairman Bruce Mazzoni. Shoppers lined the entrance of the store to receive gift cards ranging from $5 to $500. Later on Friday, another line wrapped around the second floor of the building, this time to see Steelers linebacker Larry Foote, who signed autographs from 6 to 8 p.m. Among the first in line were Cranberry residents Kevin and Mandi Yeager and their 12-year-old son, Aaron, who wore his Seneca Valley football jersey. Area residents will have a chance to get up close and personal with local professional athletes and coaches this weekend at the grand opening of the new Dick’s Sporting Goods along Route 228 in Cranberry. Located in the Cranberry Crossroads plaza, the two-story, freestanding store opens its doors Wednesday Oct. 17. An official launch, including a ribbon cutting ceremony, will be held at 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19. Special extended store hours also will be in effect for Friday (8 to 10 p.m.), Saturday (8 to 10 p.m.) and Sunday (9 to 8 p.m.) There also are a variety of special athlete appearances and giveaways scheduled throughout the weekend to celebrate the relocation.
