Kean Quest Semi-Finalists Include Singers From Gibsonia, Valencia

Thirteen singers—including youths from Gibsonia and Valencia—are moving on to the next level in the 2013 Kean Quest Talent Search. Hayden Unitas, of Gibsonia, and Sabrina Knox, of Valencia, are among 24 acts that performed Sunday in the first round of the fundraising talent competition at the Kean Theatre in Richland Township. Breea Bonnett, 11, Natrona Heights, won the Audience Choice Award during her performance at Kean Quest, formerly Kean Idol. Based on scores from a panel of judges, these singers will move onto semi-final competition on Sunday, March 17. Neil Diamond Tribute Opens Kean Theatre’s 2013 Season

Chris Denem recreates the legendary superstar’s classic and traditional hits.

The classic hits of legendary superstar Neil Diamond will be performed Saturday during a tribute performance by Chris Denem at the Kean Theatre. “Solitary Man”, “Holly Holy” and “America” are on tap for the 8 p.m. show at the theater on the St. Barnabas campus in Richland Township. (Set your GPS for 5847 Meridian Road, Gibsonia.) Ticket prices range from $18 to $38. The Mount Vernon Restaurant offers attendees a pre-show dinner at 6:30 p.m. for $23 with the purchase of a show ticket. Kean Quest Talent Search is Accepting Registrations

The popular local talent competition boasts singing sensation Jackie Evancho and the face of the Eat n’ Park restaurant chain Sarah Marince as former contestants.

Kean Quest Talent Search—the popular local talent competition that boasts singing sensation Jackie Evancho and the face of the Eat n’ Park restaurant chain Sarah Marince as former contestants—is accepting contestant registrations for its 10th season. Contestants will take to the stage of the Kean Theatre from Jan. 27 through April 5. The theater is located on the St. Barnabas campus in Richland Township at 5847 Meridian Road, Gibsonia.  Presented by St. Barnabas Charities as a fundraising event, Kean Quest Talent Search was formerly known as Kean Idol. Johnny Angel & The Halos will bring their effervescent energy to a Christmas concert at the Kean Theatre with holiday standards, rock-n-roll Christmas carols and fun specialty numbers with Pittsburgh flavor, such as “Santa Claus is Comin’ Dahntahn.” The Christmas show will be performed at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, and Saturday, Dec. 15.   The Kean Theatre is located at 5847 Meridian Road on the St. Barnabas campus in Richland Township. Contestants Continue to Sing Their Hearts Out in Kean Quest Competition

Aspiring singers continue to vie for the top spots in the 2012 Kean Quest Talent Search, formerly called Kean Idol. Semi-finalists chosen in the first five rounds will compete in Sunday's semi-final competition at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Kean Theatre on the St. Barnabas campus in Richland Township. The finals are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, March 30. Winners will be presented with the title of Audience Choice and Judges' Choice.  Tickets are available at the door for $10; proceeds benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund. Cranberry Girl Wins Audience Choice Award in Kean Quest's First Vocal Round

Twelve contestants move on to the semi-finalist round.

A 12-year-old Cranberry Township girl won the Audience Choice Award on Sunday at the first vocal round of the 2012 Kean Quest Talent Search. Nicolina Marra performed Hurt, a Christina Aguilera hit, at the contest formerly known as Kean Idol. She is a seventh-grader at St. Gregory School in Zelienople who enjoys musical theater, basketball and playing the piano.  St. Barnabas spokesman Jim Roddey was the emcee for the contest at the Kean Theatre on the St. Barnabas campus. Marra performed with 22 acts in the first round of the fundraising competition, which continues through March 30. Based on scores from a panel of judges, Marra and 11 others in the vocal competition will move on to the semi-final competition March 18. The semi-finalists …

Kean Theatre Stages 'Not Now Darling' Comedy

The show will be presented today through Sunday and Nov. 11-13.

The comedy Not Now Darling will be staged at the Kean Theatre this month as part of its “Broadway’s Best and Funniest” series. The storyline is that London fur salon owner Arnold Crouch has difficulty keeping everything afloat while his partner, Gilbert Bodley, is off philandering. Bodley decides to sell his new mistress’ husband a fur coat for an extremely low price to win her affection, and Crouch is stuck presiding over the deal. The husband decides to give the coat to his mistress, and that is when all the madness breaks out. The theater is at the 5847 Meridian Road theater in Richland Township. The play will be presented at 8 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday and Nov. 11 and 12. Cost is $22. An optional dinner at any Atria’s Restaurant…
