Jackie Evancho Presents Cranberry Teen with 'Jackie Evancho Award' at Kean Quest

The award is presented to a contestant who, like Jackie, has competed in Kean Quest for two or more years, works hard, never gives up.

The return of Jackie Evancho to the Kean Quest finals had the Kean Theatre buzzing with excitement. But perhaps even more excited was Paige Hurbanek of Cranberry Township, who Jackie presented with the third annual "Jackie Evancho Award." The award is presented to a contestant who, like Jackie, has competed in Kean Quest for two or more years, works hard, never gives up and continues to follow his or her dreams no matter the outcome of the competition. Paige played the guitar and performed an original composition called “Cold Dreams.” She has competed in Kean Quest for seven years and attends eighth grade at St. Kilian Parish School. Jackie Evancho is returning to where it all began Friday with an appearance as a guest judge at the Kean Quest Talent Search. The pint-sized singing sensation, now 12, met the first challenge of her young career five years ago when she gave her first-ever public performance at the popular local talent competition held at Kean Theatre in Richland Township. Since then, Jackie has grown to superstar status. The Beginning Back in 2008 and then 2009, Jackie, then only 7 years old, charmed local audiences while competing in Kean Quest, which was then called Kean Idol. Kean Quest Talent Search is Accepting Registrations

The popular local talent competition boasts singing sensation Jackie Evancho and the face of the Eat n’ Park restaurant chain Sarah Marince as former contestants.

Kean Quest Talent Search—the popular local talent competition that boasts singing sensation Jackie Evancho and the face of the Eat n’ Park restaurant chain Sarah Marince as former contestants—is accepting contestant registrations for its 10th season. Contestants will take to the stage of the Kean Theatre from Jan. 27 through April 5. The theater is located on the St. Barnabas campus in Richland Township at 5847 Meridian Road, Gibsonia.  Presented by St. Barnabas Charities as a fundraising event, Kean Quest Talent Search was formerly known as Kean Idol. Amateur singers of all ages are eligible to perform in the local version of the popular TV hits American Idol and The Voice.  The contest will again offer two categories—a youth competition …

There are all kinds of worthwhile activities happening this weekend throughout the Cranberry area. Here’s a look at what’s going on. 1. Learn to Dance When/Where: 7-11 p.m. Friday at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center gym on Rochester Road in Cranberry. Why Go: Even those with two left feet can learn to dance with this program. This month’s featured dance is the graceful and romantic Viennese Waltz. Singles and couples are welcome. Dancers should not wear shoes that will mark the gym floor, including spike heels or shoes with black rubber soles. Price: $10. Pre-registration is not required. 2.
