Traffic Alert! Stoppages Coming to I-79

PennDOT announces overhead utility work that will involve traffic stops in both directions.

Motorists traveling Interstate 79 through Franklin Park over the weekend should be prepared to stop on Sunday if necessary.  PennDOT has announced that traffic in both directions on I-79 will be stopped intermittently on Sunday morning, March 24, while crews perform overhead utility work. The brief stoppages of 15 minutes or less will occur between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. Sunday in the area just south of the Route 910/Wexford Bayne Road (Exit 73) interchange. PennDOT is not involved in the work. Crews under contract with Consolidated Communications, Inc. will be performing the cable work across I-79. Additional slow traffic may also occur on I-79. Overall work is expected to conclude by 11 a.m. Like Us on Facebook | Follow Us on Twitter Check …

Route 228 Ramps Project Breakdown: How the Construction Will Affect You

Changing traffic patterns will be in place when the project starts up in March.

As PennDOT’s plans to add new northbound and southbound on-ramps leading from Route 228 to Interstate 79 get underway, some of the construction will affect motorists. New traffic patterns will be in place on Route 228 east and west and on Route 19 south and Freedom Road in Cranberry next week to facilitate night work. The traffic pattern changes begin Monday, March 11 from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. and will continue Monday through Friday for two weeks until the work is complete. Start times for the night work may be adjusted depending on traffic volumes. Construction may start as early as 8 p.m. after March 11, a statement from PennDOT said.  Traffic will return to normal patterns during daylight hours, Monday through Friday.  The night work …

Round-the-Clock Road Restrictions to Start Again on Warrendale Bayne Road Near Cranberry Border

The project is expected to wrap up by summer.

Commuters on Route 19 at the border of Cranberry and Marshall Township near the Thorn Hill Industrial Park may want to allow themselves some extra time starting Monday. Starting at 9 a.m. March 4, PennDOT will resume work on a $3.7 million project to improve Warrendale Bayne Road in Marshall Township, weather permitting. During the project, traffic on Warrendale Bayne Road will be reduced to a single lane in each direction between the northbound I-79 (Exit 75) off-ramp and Harmony Road. These restrictions will remain in place around-the-clock through mid-August.    The project, which began in August 2012, will create significant improvements for the traveling public on Warrendale Bayne Road between Route 19 and Brush Creek Road, a …

PennDOT Rolling Out Route 228 Ramps Project in Cranberry

The new ramps leading to I-79 are expected to increase traffic flow in the area.

You’ve seen the orange cones and the bulldozers moving around earth in the area for months, now PennDOT’s plans to add new northbound and southbound on-ramps leading from Route 228 to Interstate 79  are really about to “ramp up.” “It’s going to result in more efficient travel through the area and less congestion,” said Mark Rozich, project manager for PennDOT District 10. The $14.78 PennDOT project eliminates two turning movements from Route 228 to I-79, improving access for motorists. Included in the construction are a new northbound on-ramp, a new southbound loop ramp and the reconstruction of the southbound off-ramp at the interchange of I-79 and Route 228. Currently, westbound drivers on Route 228 who want to get on I-79 must turn left…

Freedom Rd is a huge problem. That new Sheetz location hasn't made it much better with traffic heading east and having to make the left in what amounts to a 2 car turn lane. Why didn't the Supervisors and Planning Commission ask Sheetz to put an entrance off Executive Dr so that when they do eventually widen the bridge they would have an adequate left turn lane for Sheetz traffic? Instead you …   more ›
