Highmark Plans to Build Huge Medical Mall in Wexford

The 15.6-acre site on Route 19 was formerly owned by North Way Christian Community.

Highmark plans to build a huge Wexford Medical Mall on 15.6 acres along Route 19 in Pine Township.  Pine Township's Planning Commission reviewed plans for the 174,300-square-foot building located near the Route 19-Wallace Road Extension intersection Monday and voted to recommend that the Board of Supervisors grant preliminary and final approval. The planning commission is an advisory body that makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors. The land is near North Way Christian Community, which previously owned the property. The building is expected to house a medical clinic, offices, retail sales and services as well as a cafe. The entire building will sit on top of an open parking level. I depend on both and have Highmark yet the well paid executives at the top of that tower, their lawyers and bean counters, still insist on refusing to accept my health insurance coverage after 2014. Highmark and WPAHS Announce Affiliation to Provide Health Care Services

Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville and Canonsburg General Hospital will benefit from Highmark grants.

Highmark Inc. and the West Penn Allegheny Health System plan to affiliate to maintain the health system as an affordable choice for health care services and continue to provide community access for health care. “Today is an important first step to ensuring the continued viability of the West Penn Allegheny Health System and a choice of health care services in our region,” Kenneth R. Melani, M.D., Highmark’s president and chief executive officer, said during a news conference to announce the affiliation. “We are preserving a vital not-for-profit community asset.” Highmark is immediately providing a $50 million grant to West Penn Allegheny, enabling the health system to sustain and strengthen its West Penn Hospital in Bloomfield and Forbes …
