National Weather Service Issues Heat Advisory and Forecasts 100+ Heat Index

Hot temperatures and high humidity can trigger heat illnesses.

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for noon to 8 p.m. Thursday and is forecasting a heat index of 100 or more degrees. Hot and humid conditions will return to the metropolitan Pittsburgh area, the West Virginia panhandle, east-central Ohio and portions of northern West Virginia, the weather service website states. "A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected," according to the service. "The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible." Heat Advisory Issued for Region Including Cranberry Township

It's going to be a hazy, hot and humid out there! Stay cool and safe.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the region on Tuesday. The advisory is in effect from noon to 9 p.m. Today's high temp is expected to be 94 degrees, but heat indexes could reach 104 degrees or so. The heat and humidity expected could cause heat-related illnesses for many people. Those most at risk include the elderly, infants and children up to the age of 4, the overweight, people who work or exercise outdoors, and people with heart or respiratory problems. Heat Advisory And Air Quality Alert Issued

Heat and humidity becoming dangerous for young children, the elderly, and anyone with respiratory problems.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued both a heat advisory and an air quality alert for the western Pennsylvania area, including of course, the Cranberry area. Temperatures are expected to soar well into the 90's with heat index values topping 100. The weather service says the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will trigger heat related problems for the elderly, young children, and anyone susceptible to the heat.
