Winter Weather Advisory Issued: Rain Turning to Snow Later Today

The National Weather Service advises motorists to use caution as temperatures plummet tonight.

Don’t let today’s warmish temperatures fool you, snow is on the way for the Greater Pittsburgh area, including Butler County. The National Weather Service at 1:30 p.m. Thursday issued a winter weather advisory from 9 tonight until 6 p.m. Friday for all of western Pennsylvania. Strong winds and snow showers are expected overnight into Friday. Winds are predicted to be southwest at 20 to 25 mph with gusts of more than 40 mph possible. Weather forecasters are calling for snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches in the Interstate 80 corridor with a possible 2 to 4 inches of the white stuff falling elsewhere.
