Community Rallies, Continues to Collect Donations For Evans City Family Who Lost Everything in Fire
After the successful collection of donations Sunday for the Pearce family at the Evans City fire hall, a new website has been set up to raise money for the family.
Of all the people who stopped by the Evans City fire hall Sunday to drop off monetary donations, gift cards and other items for the Pearce family, whose home was destroyed by fire Friday, the one that stands out most in firefighter Brett Wagner’s head is a little boy who walked in and handed over a wad of crumpled dollar bills. “He walked in, came up steps, handed us a roll of money and said ‘I’d like to give this to the family,’” Wagner said. The youngster departed the station shortly after arriving, but Wagner said the boy’s kindness was emblematic of the day. “The support we had down there was amazing,” he said.
