Community Rallies, Continues to Collect Donations For Evans City Family Who Lost Everything in Fire

After the successful collection of donations Sunday for the Pearce family at the Evans City fire hall, a new website has been set up to raise money for the family.

Of all the people who stopped by the Evans City fire hall Sunday to drop off monetary donations, gift cards and other items for the Pearce family, whose home was destroyed by fire Friday, the one that stands out most in firefighter Brett Wagner’s head is a little boy who walked in and handed over a wad of crumpled dollar bills. “He walked in, came up steps, handed us a roll of money and said ‘I’d like to give this to the family,’” Wagner said. The youngster departed the station shortly after arriving, but Wagner said the boy’s kindness was emblematic of the day. “The support we had down there was amazing,” he said. Donation Site Set Up for Young Brothers Killed in Connoquenessing Crash

Liam Bintrim, 3, and Declan McCullough, who would have celebrated his first birthday Friday, died Wednesday.

Elisabeth McCullough was just a few miles from her home on Main Street in Harmony Wednesday morning when the SUV she was driving spun out of control on icy Lower Harmony Road in Connoquenessing Township. The vehicle skidded off the road and flipped over before striking a tree. McCullough, 32, survived the accident with minor injuries—her two young sons did not. Liam Bintrim, 3, and Declan McCullough, who would have celebrated his first birthday Friday, were both killed when the roof of the vehicle caved in above where they sitting, according to KDKA. State Police Lt. Eric Hermick told the news station it took rescue workers some time to access the children, but it appeared nothing could have been done to save them. Both children were …
