Motorists Warned to Beware of Snow and Ice on Roads

A winter weather advisory in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday

Remember just few days ago when the sun was shining and temperatures hovered around 70 degrees? That sure didn't last long.  Within a matter of hours this afternoon snow, sleet and some freezing rain moved into the area, quickly covering roads and causing hazardous driving conditions. About 4 to 8 inches of snow and a tenth of an inch of ice is predicted by the National Weather Service. "Untreated roads will become slick. Motorists are urged to exercise caution if traveling late this afternoon," the weather service stated. It's a Snow Day

Classes at Seneca Valley and through Cranberry Township's parks and rec program are canceled Wednesday.

Alicia Smith, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, had one word to describe Wednesday’s forecast for Cranberry Township – snowy. After to up to 5 inches of snow fell in the area overnight, classes at the Seneca Valley School District went from a two-hour delay early this morning to canceled. Cranberry Township’s parks and recreation department also has canceled all classes for the day. Smith said to expect more snow showers throughout the day. “We have 1 to 2 inches possible today and then tonight, new snow accumulations of less than an inch,” she said. The high temperature today will reach the mid-20s, with temperatures falling to the mid-teens by tonight. Drivers who do venture out should be wary of snow blowing on the …
