Get the scoop on what developments are in the works for Cranberry. The commission meets at 6 p.m. Monday, April 1 at the Cranberry Township Municipal Building on Rochester Road. Find out in person what’s going on in township government. Cranberry’s board of supervisors will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4 inside council chambers at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center. This event for kids ages 5 to 12 has a session from 8 to 9:15 a.m. and 9:45 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6 at the fishing lake at Graham Park in Cranberry. The event begins with a quick seminar on fishing, along with lake rules and regulations. Skilled volunteers will be on hand to help with basic fishing skills. Cranberry Supervisor Dave Root Says He Won’t Seek Re-Election in 2013

The board’s only Democrat, Root was first elected in 2008.

After more than five years on Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors, Carnegie Mellon University professor Dave Root said he would not seek re-election in 2013. Root, currently on the only Democrat on the board, said he reached the decision after much prayer, along with discussions with family, friends and supporters. “I appreciate all those who have urged me to run again, committing their time and money, but this is the right choice at this time,” he said in a statement. “I believe we are all called to serve, so when my term expires at the end of the year I will be pursuing other opportunities. Democratic Contender Announces Run for Cranberry Supervisor

Michael Warrington says he wants to focus on road infrastructure and quality of life in the township.

Another candidate has thrown his name into the ring to run for Cranberry Township’s Board of Supervisors when Dave Root’s term expires in 2013. Longtime resident Michael Warrington said he plans to seek the Democratic nomination in the May primary election, Root, a Democratic, recently announced he would not seek re-election after four years on the board.   A resident of the Pinehurst neighborhood, Warrington has been married to his wife, Rachel, for 12 years. For the last five years, he was worked for the Eat n’ Park Hospitality Group. He currently is a manager at an Eat n’ Park restaurant. Cranberry Fire Company President Announces Campaign for Supervisor

Bruce Hezlep says the time was right to take his volunteerism to the next step.

Another Republican candidate has announced his intention to run for Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors when Dave Root’s term expires at the end of the year. Bruce Hezlep, president of the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company, and a longtime township resident, said that after thinking about it for years, the time was right to take his volunteerism to the next level.  “I have really been involved in the community for about 10 years volunteering," he said. "I’m looking to continue to contribute to the community in a different fashion." Hezlep is the second person to announce his intention to run on the GOP ticket in the May primary election. Everyone on the board of supervisors knows that Evanson is capricious and malicious-randomly deciding who deserves justice and who should be persecuted. Seneca Valley School Board Member Announces Run for Cranberry Supervisor

Eric Gordon will campaign on the Republican ticket

Although the spring primary election still is months away, a candidate already is throwing his hat into the ring to run for Cranberry Township’s Board of Supervisors. Seneca Valley School Board member Eric Gordon on Tuesday announced his intention to run on the Republican ticket in May. If successful, he will move on to the November general election. A nuclear industry consultant and Navy veteran, Gordon currently is finishing up his first four-year term on the school board. “I think with the combination of my Navy leadership and everything I’ve learned as far as budgeting with the school board, I’ve like to continue doing work in Cranberry,” he said of why he is choosing to run for supervisor. I'll try to post a link here.. It appears as though in his brief term as supervisor the budget has gotten closer and closer to being balanced. They’ve Got Game: Cranberry Lions Honor Hoop Shoot Winners

Proceeds from the Community Hoop Shoot Classic went to the nonprofit VIP Sports Camp.

It was game on at the Cranberry Township Board of Supervisors meeting Thursday as the Cranberry Lions Club recognized the student winners from its first Community Hoop Shoot Classic. Sponsored by the Lions and the physical education teachers at Rowan Elementary School, the March 10 event at the Cranberry Municipal Center featured a foul-shot competition and a hot-shot contest for children in first through sixth grades. Although admission to the event was free, donations were accepted for VIP Sports Camp, which provides sports and recreation opportunities for children and teenagers who are visually impaired or blind.
