News Nearby: Ross Crime Watch Meeting Set for Thursday in Response to Sexual Attacks

Police chief says officers are "working around the clock" to find the man responsible for the attacks.

There will be a Ross Township Crime Watch meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the township Municipal Center in response to reports of two sexual assaults of women within days of each other.  Township police still are investigating the two assaults, which occurred Jan. 9 and 11. Both assaults involved attacks on women in their mid-20s living in apartment complexes and occurred in the early morning hours after the women returned from walking their dogs.  While North Hills residents remained vigilant in the wake of the news, Ross Township and West View police placed extra patrols in the area's more than two dozen apartment complexes as they search for the man responsible for the attacks. News Nearby: Sexual Attacks in Ross Appear to be Random, Police Say

One woman attacked Saturday and another Monday after walking their dogs in the early morning hours are in their mid-20s and apparently have no connection to their attacker, police said.

The two Ross Township women sexually assaulted in their apartments in the early morning hours after returning from walking their dogs apparently do not have any connection to their attacker, according to police.  "These appear to be random," said Ross Police spokesman Sgt. Benjamin Dripps.  As of noon, police were still on the scene at the Cascade Apartments at 100 East West Drive, where the second assault took place Monday morning.  A neighbor who gave his name only as John P. said he was feeling physically sick over the news.  "I've lived here a long time. This isn't the Cascades. This is a friendly community," he said. "I hope they catch the bastard."  The woman, who is in her mid-20s, police said, left her apartment to walk her dog at …
