Two people are taken by medical helicopters to area hospitals.
Emergency crews responded to a crash involving an overturned car on the Pennsylvania Turnpike Friday morning that injured three people. According to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission spokeswoman Renee Colburn, the crash happened about a mile from the Cranberry interchange. Colburn said three people were in the eastbound car when it overturned at about 10:49 a.m. The Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company reported on the its Facebook page that the car rolled down an embankment. "Crews worked tirelessly to remove all patients from the vehicle," the company's status said. Two people were transported by medical helicopters to area hospitals, Coleburn said. Three people are injured in the collision.
Route 910 in Pine Township remains closed Wednesday evening between Route 19 (at Church Road) and Pearce Mill Road after a head-on collision between a Gasline Service Co. utility truck and a FedEx tractor-trailer. Three people were reported injured in the accident and transported by ambulance to area hospitals. The severity of their injuries is unknown. The road could be closed until 8:30 p.m. as hazmat crews clean up the scene. The impact of the crash was so powerful, the front ends of both trucks were torn off. Motorists are recommended to avoid the area.
A crash at Route 228 at Interstate-79 West is causing traffic delays, according to Cranberry officials. Motorists are asked to avoid area if possible or to use alternate routes. On the Cranberry Patch Facebook page, reader Leigh Crawford Fisher said she saw both cars involved in the collision being loaded onto a tow truck. "Hopefully it will clear up soon," she commented. One man is taken to Allegheny General Hospital with a “major injury.”
Two men were injured in a vehicle crash Saturday evening on Evans City Road in Connoquenessing Township. State police at Butler said William M. Baxter, 24, of Callery, was driving on Route 68 near the intersection of Orchard Drive at about 11:40 p.m. when he collided with the car being driven by Cody J. Turner, 21, of Butler. Although both men were hurt, Turner sustained “major injury,” according to police. He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital on Pittsburgh’s North Side. No charges were filed in the incident.

The 53-year-old Wall Street Journal columnist and best-selling co-author of "The Last Lecture" is killed Friday in northern Michigan.
Best-selling author Jeffrey Zaslow, 53, who co-wrote The Last Lecture with Carnegie Mellon University's Randy Pausch, died Friday in an auto accident in northern Michigan. According to the Antrim County Sheriff's Office, a vehicle lost control on the M-32 road and skidded into the path of a truck Friday morning; the car's driver was killed, a dispatcher confirmed. Zaslow recently published a new novel, The Magic Room, and was a featured speaker last month at the West Bloomfield Optimist Club breakfast meeting and a frequent speaker at functions throughout West Bloomfield and Farmington. The three-vehicle accident shut down part of I-79 Saturday morning.
A Mars Teen was killed and two other people were injured in a collision on Interstate 79 near the Wexford exit Sunday morning that shut down the highway for about four hours. Ibn Hoffman, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said. The teen was driving north on I-79 around 5:30 a.m. when the car drifted into the grassy area between the opposite lanes of traffic. After unsuccessfully attempting to regain control of the car, Hoffman veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with a tanker truck driven by Bradley Airesman, 39. Although he was able to avoid the crash in front of him, a third car driven by Robert Trimbur was struck by debris from crash, causing his airbags to deploy. Trimbur was uninjured, police said.
