Tyler Gazdik, 19, ordered to stand trial.
A Gibsonia teen served as a lookout and a distraction as his friend burglarized two homes on Ben Miller and Elgro roads in Richland Township in the latter half of 2012, according to testimony from a police detective Wednesday. Tyler Gazdik, 19, is charged with working with the late Stephen Hudec, 20, to burglarize those homes. He also told police he acted alone to take copper pipes and wire coils from a Grubbs Road home in Richland, Hampton Detective Robert Kirsopp testified. Magisterial District Judge William K. Wagner ordered Gazdik to stand trial on burglary, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy and criminal trespass charges. Coins were taken in burglary on Wallace Road, according to KDKA.
Three men were charged with burglarizing a Wallace Road home twice in one week, according to a KDKA report. Coins were taken the first time the Pine Township home was burglarized, KDKA reported. The second time, a man was home and called police, KDKA said. Northern Regional police arrested the men after following their footprints in the snow, the report stated. According to court documents: All three are in the Allegheny County Jail. Their preliminary hearings are set for Jan. 2. Matthew Lohr is charged with stealing jewelry from a home in Pine.
The preliminary hearing for a 29-year-old man charged with burglarizing a Pine Township home was postponed until Oct. 17. Matthew Lohr, of Mars, was scheduled to appear Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge William K. Wagner. Lohr is charged with felony counts of burglary, receiving stolen property and theft. Northern Regional police charged Lohr with the Sept. 13 burglary of a home on Old State Road in Pine, during which jewelry was stolen and pawned at Treasure Chest in Richland Township, according to the criminal complaint. A Mars man charged stealing jewelry from a home Pine Township is in the Butler County Jail, where he faces 73 charges brought by police in Zelienople and Mars Borough. Matthew Lohr, 29, is charged with felony counts of burglary, theft and receiving stolen property in the Pine incident, according to Northern Regional Police Chief T. Robert Amann. Zelienople police charged Lohr with 58 felony counts of burglary, criminal trespassing and receiving stolen property, according to court documents. He is charged with stealing baseball cards and jewelery from a home on Emerson Drive in Zelienople on Aug. 30 in that incident. A Middlesex Township teen charged in a Richland Township home-invasion burglary was arraigned Tuesday morning and charged with two felonies. Leo James Nealon, who turned 18 on Sept. 12, was charged with a felony count of burglary and a felony count of conspiracy—burglary, as well as a misdemeanor count of possessing instruments of crime—criminal instruments. A Pittsburgh man who was arrested inside a Marshall Township office building pleaded guilty Wednesday to burglary and was sentenced to 2 1/2 to 5 years incarceration and 10 years probation. Timothy D. Barnett, 51, pleaded guilty to four felonies—two for burglary, one for criminal trespassing and one for criminal attempt. He also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of receiving stolen property. Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Judge Kathleen A. Durkin imposed the sentence. A register drawer holding cash was stolen Tuesday morning.
Cranberry police are investigating after a man broke into the convenience store at the Valero gas station located on Freedom Road and stole a cash register drawer holding money. Sgt. Chuck Mascellino said the suspect entered the Cranberry Super Mini Mart at about 1 a.m. by smashing through the glass front door. It is unknown how much cash was in the register, he said. Police are examining video surveillance footage from the break-in, he said. No arrests have been made at this time. The suspect, who was alone, is believed to be a white man with a thin build. For the second time this year, a 23-year-old Cranberry man waived his preliminary hearing on charges related to pawning or trying to pawn $4,460 in stolen musical instruments and equipment at Waddell's Music Center in Pine Township. This time, Tyler Bruce Smith is the defendant. Previously, 23-year-old Jeremy Joseph Sturgeon of Cranberry waived his preliminary hearing in a related case. They are charged as co-conspirators. A Callery man charged with stealing copper from homes and businesses will be formally arraigned on April 10. Nathaniel Joseph Baxter, 20, of Kline Avenue, was charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, receiving stolen property, conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to commit theft.
