Black Friday Sales: What Cranberry Shoppers Need to Know

While some major retailers planned to open their doors as early as 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving, plenty of deals will still await shoppers Friday at Walmart, Target, Best Buy and elsewhere.

With each passing year, it seems Black Friday begins earlier and earlier—6 a.m., then 5 a.m., then 4 a.m. This year, Black Friday actually started on Thanksgiving night. Should you be one of those traditional folks who don't believe in Black Friday shopping until it's actually Black Friday, however, here's what you need to know about shopping opportunities in the northern suburbs. Plenty of Black Friday deals are out there throughout the North Hills and Cranberry. Among them is Nordstrom, which proudly trumpets its longstanding tradition of not putting up Christmas decorations or starting holiday sales until the day after Thanksgiving. Before Black Friday Poll: How Early is Too Early for Christmas 2012 Gift Shopping?

It used to be Black Friday was for the earliest of birds. Not anymore.

It's only one day past Halloween (with trick or treating still to come), but it's already starting to look a lot like Christmas around the Cranberry area. Yup, the early birds no longer wait until Black Friday to do their holiday shopping. This year, Black Friday is on Nov. 23, but big retailers and mail-order companies are starting well in advance. Amazon, for example, is beginning its Black Friday on Nov. 14. Step into the local Target, Bed Bath & Beyond or Lowe's and you'll see a full array of Christmas items. Some people, no doubt, will be purchasing gift cards from the most popular establishments in the Cranberry area, listed as our Cranberry Patch 2012 Readers' Choice Award Winners.
