Justin Wroblewski makes his dream come true with a new bakery located in Evans City.
For husband-and-wife baking team Justin and Maria Wroblewski, Evans City was the place to be—or at least to bake. Earlier in August, Tin Man Sweets, the couples' labor of love, opened its doors in the heart of the borough on East Main Street. The Renfrew-based couple said they ran the business from their home for four years until the project became too much for their at-home bakery. Instead of ditching pastries and moving on, the Wroblewskis decided to kick it up a notch. Former mortgage broker Chris Williams found new life as a baker.
Mimi's Bake Shoppe is the kind of independent confection you crave while traversing Route 228 with a trunk full of presents. Stop into the little shop as a gift to yourself and you'll be glad you did. The treats are like glittery jewelry store gems and a lush sweet smell permeates the air. Bakery owner Christopher Williams, a 44-year-old former mortgage banker, honors the 94 -year-old grandma his shop was named for with gorgeously crafted cupcakes, pastries, pies, tarts and gourmet cakes. We stopped at this bakery on our way to Virginia for a family vacation--- we had sweets for the road and a few left to share when we arrived at our destination. DELICIOUS!! I recommend this bakery highly!   more ›
