Calling All Artists! Cranberry to Offer Drawing Classes

Offered by the Associated Artists of Butler County, the classes are for adults only.

For those who always wanted to unleash their creativity though pencil and paper, Cranberry has the right class for you. The Associated Artists of Butler County is offering a new adults-only drawing class to residents during six weekly 2½-hour sessions starting Feb. 6 in Cranberry. The class will emphasize ways to apply perception and the creative process together with a technical focus on the use of light, texture, color and composition while creating original images on paper. Artist Kathy Bischak will lead the class. Enrollment will be limited to those 18 and older. Cranberry Township's Parks and Recreation Department will begin accepting registration for the class Jan. 28. Those taking the class must provide their own sketchpads, pencils…

Cranberry Gets Artsy with AABC Opening and Patch

Cranberry area residents had a chance to meet their local artists Friday at the opening night of the Associated Artists of Butler County faculty show at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center. The exhibit runs through Nov. 9. To build excitement for the show, Cranberry Patch featured a different local artist on the site each day leading up to the opening night. Patch also displayed “Poppy,” an original watercolor by Mary Alice Carmody-Diana at the event, where organizers later raffled it off. More than $1,000 in cash prizes also were awarded to the artists courtesy of AABC and the Cranberry Township Community Chest.
