Cranberry Police are continuing to investigate an armed robbery last week at the BP gas station on Route 19. “We have a couple of strong leads,” said Sgt. Chuck Mascellino. On April 16, a man carrying a shotgun entered the Cranberry convenience store and ordered the cashier to "give him the money." The employee turned over an undisclosed amount of cash before the robber ran from the store. Mascellino said the incident took less than a minute from the time the man walked in and took off. Police searched the area with the help of a K-9 officer, but were not able to locate the suspect. The suspect is described as a white male with a thin build, about 5-foot-9 inches to 6-feet tall. Police are seeking help in identifying a man with a shotgun from surveillance photos.
Cranberry Township police are investigating a report of an armed robbery that happened late Tuesday at the BP gas station on Route 19. According to Cranberry police Sgt. Chuck Mascellino, a male entered the store with a shotgun around 10:50 p.m. and ordered the cashier to "give him the money." Court records show Matthew McDonald, 19, was released from jail after posting bond in October. He is awaiting trial for an April case in which he is charged with simple assault and harassment in Washington County.
The Washington County man charged with robbing the BP gas station and convenience store at T-Bones plaza in Wexford and a Chartiers Township gas station Nov. 13 was free on bond at the time of the robberies, according to court documents. Matthew Clark McDonald, 19, now is back in the Washington County Jail, unable to post $100,000 bond. He is one of four men named Tuesday as suspects in the BP holdup and in holdups in other communities around Allegheny and Washington counties. Northern Regional Police have released surveillance photos of a man they say is responsible for the armed robbery at the BP Gas station and convenience store located in the T-Bones shopping plaza on Route 910 near the I-79 interchange in Wexford on Tuesday morning. Police Chief T. Robert Amann said a white man, about 6 feet tall and wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt and blue jeans, held up the convenience store between the gas pumps at 10:44 a.m. Tuesday. Amann said the man did show a handgun to store workers. After the robbery, police said the suspect ran across route 910 and jumped into a car, which was parked at Soergel's market. The victim was checking her mail when two robbers approached.
McCandless police are investigating reports of an armed robbery Monday night in the 9900 block of Rinaman Road, WTAE-TV reports. Rinaman Road turns into Pine Creek Road, which empties onto McKnight Road at Pine Creek Shopping Center. Investigators said the victim, a woman, was checking her mail when two men approached and robbed her, WPXI-TV reports. A 7-Eleven in Pine Township was robbed Sunday night by an armed man wearing a ski mask, said Police Chief T. Robert Amann of the Northern Regional Police Department. "The individual displayed a handgun and pointed it at the clerk, demanding money," said Amann. The 10 p.m. incident took place at the 7-Eleven located at the intersection of Bakerstown Road and Babcock Boulevard. "The individual demanded money from the clerk. As she opened the register, he went behind the counter and took the money," Amann said. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken, he said. State police say David Brickley used a gun to demand money from a store clerk.
A Cranberry man is one of two people arrested early Saturday morning after state police said he robbed a video store in Beaver County at gunpoint. According to a report from state police in Beaver County, David Paul Brickley, 49, of Cranberry, entered the Video Hobby Land in Big Beaver around 1 a.m. and demanded money after pointing a gun at the store clerk. He then ran from the store and got into a waiting vehicle that was seen driving south on Route 18, troopers said. After police broadcast a description of Brickley and the vehicle, Beaver Falls Police spotted the car in the McDonalds parking lot on Seventh Avenue in Beaver Falls.
