Luxury Fifth Avenue Fido Opens Monday in Cranberry

The indoor kennel and doggie daycare also will host two open houses in December.

Folks heading away for the holidays now have new boarding option for their pooches. After months of construction, 5th Avenue Fido, a luxury doggie day care center and indoor kennel, opens Monday off Route 19 in Cranberry. Located in the former Northgate Honda building, the facility offers what owner Linda Beard calls “guilt-free” boarding. 5th Avenue Fido also will offer dog training, including puppy, basic and socialization classes. Dog owners may drop off their pups before they head to work at the facility’s doggie day care. There also will be dog-grooming services at the building. Inside, the kennel features separate dog “houses,” complete with siding and roofs, in the building’s “Residential” and “Fifth Avenue” sections. Beard, of …

Over time I have had a few dogs and cats. I liked them and they liked me BUT they were not my kids. What does it cost for this new luxo establishment that probably is better than a lot of people can afford for them selves. My current pet is a 6 ft cactus that only asks for a lot of light and water now and then. I don't know if it misses me when i am away.   more ›

After concerns raised by Cranberry regarding site layout and design, Pittsburgh Penguins officials said they could shift plans for a cutting-edge performance center and practice rink in Cranberry to another location. The proposed 150,000-square-foot complex would be located in the Cranberry Woods business park off bustling Route 228 and offer hockey-related training and injury treatment and prevention. Coming Soon: Cranberry's Luxury “5th Avenue Fido” Readies for Opening

Co-owner Linda Beard says the doggie day care and kennel will provide “guilt-free” boarding.

At 5th Avenue Fido, the luxury doggie day care center and indoor kennel opening soon in Cranberry, the rooms are fit for a princess—literally. While all hotel-inspired sleeping rooms for dogs at the facility have a different theme, the “Princess House” is outfitted in pink and features a chandelier. Linda Beard said she named in honor of her own dog, Princess. She said there’s nothing else like it in Pittsburgh. “Nobody has these ‘houses,’ ” she said. Along with Janet Best, Beard, a longtime dog trainer, is co-owner of 5th Avenue Fido. Located along Route 19 at the former Northgate Honda building, the facility offers what Beard calls “guilt-free” boarding. The indoor kennel features separate dog “houses,” complete with siding and roofs, in…

La-Z-Boy, 5th Avenue Fido Get Final Approval

Officials also approve plans for North Catholic High School.

Cranberry area residents will soon have a new place to shop for furniture well as a unique facility to take the family dog. At Thursday’s Board of Supervisors meeting, Cranberry officials unanimously gave final approval to plans for a La-Z-Boy at the Cranberry Crossroads shopping and office plaza. Developer Phil Bishop of ECHO Realty said the 12,063 square-foot furniture store would be the final piece to the development, which currently is under construction on Route 228. When finished, the shopping center will feature a two-story Dick’s Sporting Goods at its center. Bishop said the store would function as a showroom gallery only, meaning customers won’t be able to cart their furniture choices from inside the building on the same day they …

Luxury “5th Avenue Fido” in the Works for Cranberry

The boarding house also will provide a doggie daycare and training lessons

Linda Beard and Janet Best have always treated their dogs like family, which is why they wanted to open a dog care facility that does the same. “They live in a nice home all the time,” Beard said of her own pooches. “So when we go away, I wouldn’t want to put them somewhere that would be stressful to them or a lot different to them than a home environment.” On Monday, Cranberry’s Planning Advisory Commission approved co-owner Beard and Best’s plans for 5th Avenue Fido, a luxury indoor kennel and doggie day care facility that will be located along Route 19 at the vacant Northgate Honda building. The plans will next go before the Cranberry Board of Supervisors later this month for final approval. Beard, a Cranberry resident, said 5th Avenue …

Commission members also get their first look at plans the 5th Avenue Fido dog kennel.

A La-Z-Boy furniture store is among the retailers planned for the Cranberry Crossroads development now under construction on Route 228. Plans for the 12,063 square-foot store were briefly introduced Monday at the Cranberry Planning Commission's workshop meeting. Officials are expected to review the plans in more detail at their next meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, June 4 at the township municipal center on Rochester Road. If the planning commission green lights the plans, they next would be sent to the township board of supervisors for final approval. The La-Z-Boy store would be located to the left of the two-story Dick’s Sporting Goods, which, once built, will be the anchor to the 98,940-square-feet retail space. A GetGo gas station and …
