Armed with a weapon other than his equally deadly Big Pharma prescription pad, a doctor aims for theRead More heart of a critical situation.
Blackdemon July 25, 2014 at 06:54 am
Glad the Doctor had the knowledge to protect himself, and his fellow workers. It is really too badRead More he didn't finish the job. The patient could have gotten the firearm anywhere in the area of Philadelphia, or across the border in Jersey. Illegal gun are easier to get in areas where gun laws are strict. I know of at least two Thugs across the river in the People's Republic of Jersey that carry every day. Both are felons, and one has been caught twice with an illegal gun with the numbers removed. Yet he still hasn't served more than a day or two in jail.
Kenny Poe July 25, 2014 at 07:12 am
Thank you Patch for headlining the story with the heroic act of the doctor (you may have titled itRead More "Doctor prevents potential deaths with legal firearm" but that's too much to ask right now...). Even though you still raise the question of whether it was "licensed" or whether hospital staff are "permitted" to carry, it's more coverage than other media outlets are giving to this example of how guns save lives.

What the hell is a "magazine clip"? Semi-automatic pistols use a magazine. Technically,Read More it's called a box magazine. Clips are completely DIFFERENT!! http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_RYwUPr35rLw/SMSzcYalaPI/AAAAAAAAAM4/pgTUU7jUlFo/s1600-h/Magazine+-+vs+-+Clip.jpg

Amazing how Irish Americans like Truth are the first to speak in generalities about blacks andRead More Hispanics, but if someone dare applies those standards to the Irish, they become the most hypersensitive people of all. O'Brien, couldn't help but notice you confirmed everything I said in your response; not surprising given your background. I said to ban Irish immigration, as they come over poor and uneducated. By your own accord about your family, they didn't receive any education until they came to America. By your own accord, many Irish go into law enforcement, a job that is blue collar and for those who aren't educated...no surprise the Irish flock to such jobs. And, when it comes to explaining why your descendants were poor savages in Ireland, you blame the British. Amazing how the very Irish people who tell black folk to stop whining about the effects of slavery and segregation shriek about British oppression of the Irish whenever the savage backwardness of the emerald isle is brought up! Surely you'd agree by the same accord that Africa and the Middle East are a mess because of British oppression and imperialism!
Why July 22, 2014 at 08:07 pm
Josh, not all Irish were poor savages, put upon by the British. Some of the "savages"Read More actually fought back and killed the British. Never refer to an Irish person as "poor" until you look in the mirror! I have followed your posts. You specialize in whining, inflammatory posts. Where does our hatred and desire for instilling anger in others come from? Is it because you are loathed?
Josh Goldstein July 23, 2014 at 04:43 pm
The way to not be a poor savage is to get money and education. Irish American's can finally getRead More money and education because they're no longer in Ireland, as our pal O'Brien pointed out. Killing someone doesn't magically turn you into a rich civilized person. Although, I'm not surprised that a feeble Irish mind would equate violence with behavior that is not 'poor savagery.' What am I whining about? The only whining I see is you and O'Brien turning into the McSharpton because I had the audacity to speak empirical facts about the educational and financial status of Irish immigrants.

Once again (and almost within 24 hours) the news brings us another horrific tragedy regarding theRead More senseless death of two more PA children. This has been a hard summer for the little ones. I pray we do not hear about any more of these tragedies. My prayers go out to the parents of these two little angels. So very sorry for your loss and for all the other children who have lost their lives due to freak accidents and/or simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

@F-TR - well, at least it's six of one and a half of dozen of the other even though the AmericanRead More Water Christie-style pit bull bellowing water tower will offend us 24/365 – personally, if I had to pay American Water for their service, I would enclose one canned sardine in every payment envelope [tried to use your reply button to no avail - that's a 50/50 option also]
Juliana Brady July 4, 2014 at 01:22 pm
Weekender's don't pay attention to such important things like how to get out of a rip current. EvenRead More I a strong swimmer with certifications had trouble getting out of a couple of them. I also fully knew how to handle myself and it's still a killer for those who come down here to party and then think they are jumping into a pool in the backyard. Never turn your back to the Ocean, give it the respect it deserves, and don't go in just to cool off thinking it's just a "rip current" no biggie! The Ocean will take you down in a flash.

The last time I ate food out of a truck there was a similar explosion...
Nick Matregrano July 4, 2014 at 12:23 pm
Propane is a very flammable and explosive heavy gas. A lot heavier than air, if there is a leak itRead More will hang low until it finds an ignition source. You have to make sure the regulator and hose is tight on the bottle and replace hoses if they become cracked or dry rotted. They require daily maintenance.

They have to announce these checkpoints because checkpoints in and of themselves areRead More unconstitutional. The SCOTUS said that in order for checkpoints to be considered "legal" notice must be given and drivers must have a way to legally avoid the checkpoint. Get educated people. Its not about being above the law, its about asserting YOUR RIGHTS.
Dave Urner July 3, 2014 at 04:30 pm
First, I stand corrected regarding SCOTUS and consider myself educated as to the "legal"Read More aspects regarding announced check points. I take it that it's okay for a person to throw down a few brews and then hit the highways. I guess it is okay for a drunk driver to infringe on "THE RIGHTS" of another driver... to drive without getting T-boned by a drunk driver. I happened to have a couple of close friends who have been impared....FOR LIFE that were involved in DUI accidents. What happened to the two DUI drivers ??? They were made to wear those bright orange colored monkey jump suits for a few Sundays and tidy up the 422 by-pass and told what they did is a no no, don't do it again.

Need to take that photo down of the four lanes each way. It just upsets Lehigh Valley drivers evenRead More more considering Penn Dot built 78 at a great deal of expense and forgot to make it 3 lanes its whole length. So when this needs to be done because it will, especially going up that long hill heading East before the Rt 33 exit (how dumb was that move), we will again have to sit in long lines, a ton of extra cost not needed if they did it right the first time and just get more upset.

She could have Wilson's disease. They need to check for copper level in her blood. This is a rareRead More and very serious disease. It's a genetic mutation that is being linked to Agent Orange exposure. It makes it so you can't process copper. You end up with copper toxicity. This damages the liver, heart, brain, teeth, ect... It's unthinkable that her parents wouldn't take her to the dentist but for her teeth to be that bad in the first place, she must have a gum disease. http://omicsonline.org/unusual-enamel-hypoplasia-associated-with-teeth-mobility-in-a-13-year-old-girl-with-wilson-disease-2157-7412.1000118.pdf

In the case you are referring to "She was diagnosed as WD under the basis that she has aRead More neurological affection including movement disorders represented by poor coordination, loss of fine- motor control, cramped handwriting. Rigid dystonia represented by rigidity and gait disturbance. Pseudobulbar symptoms represented by dysarthria, drooling, and difficulty in swallowing. Psychiatric affection showed depression, aggressive/anti-social behavior and emotional liability. Kaysere-Fleischer rings are apparent by direct visual examination." The child in the case of the parents being charged was 6 years old and did not have the other symptoms of WD. The other was 13 and had most of her permanent dentition which were able to be restored or replaced with bridgework. The 6 year old needed removable appliances to replace her extracted teeth. big difference wearing these, versus permanent non-removable restorations. Reading the facts and research before posting unrelated information is much more helpful to the people reading this. Just saying.
Heidi July 6, 2014 at 08:08 am
I feel so bad for this little girl, they did in an article take her to a dentist I will give creditRead More for that but did not follow up for months later leading to this problem. Which then makes it their fault! There is free dental care for children not adults period so they can't use that as an excuse! There is also free transportation still no excuse. And someone posted before about them looking like drug addicts well looks can be deceiving as I am a very tiny girl born that way and people accuse me of not eating & I can out eat many men I know! We are all different but in this case sorry they do look like drug addicts & the father looks scary as all he!! It is just sad anymore if I could turn back the clock to when things were so different I would!

Metal detectors should be in all schools. They never show how well those detectors work becauseRead More that would mean putting money into something that will protect your children. They definitely work. Every parent should want this in their schools but the school wont tell you this because it will cost some money and they prefer to pay there stupid administrators triple digits than protect your kids. (yes teachers should want this too but they won't go against administrators). In Long Island I saw these things work 3 times in the 5 months I lived there. Hell with legislation, save our kids now.
Blackdemon July 12, 2014 at 07:38 am
The schools are not safe, just like any gun free zone. Remember the bad guy's are bad guy's becauseRead More they don't obey the law. Metal detectors are useless, because if they walk in with a gun who is going to stop them??? Metal Detectors may have stopped the kid with the pocket knife, but wouldn't do a thing if the kid came in with a Shotgun with the intent to do some damage. If the doors are locked, most of the schools have glass at street level. Pop-Pop, and they are in. The sheeple are so against people protecting themselves, they will do anything to allow it to happen with feel good solutions. The only thing that will stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun. Gun Free Zones are like shooting fish in a barrel, they don't have to worry about being stopped.

I feel bad for the victims & the truck driver. These companies push their employees & ifRead More they don't do what they want then they will be replaced. I read somewhere the whole anti-marijuana movement was fomented by a chemical company that had comeRead More up with a formula for chemically manufactured rope, which company then pushed for the law against growing hemp(as marijuana) in order to destroy the long-time traditional manufacture of hemp rope by denying the manufacturers the raw material needed thus insuring the chemically based rope's profitability by destroying its major competitor.

Sorry, I didn't read all that. Your first 2 lines proved you read what into my comments what youRead More wanted to. If you read carefully you would see that I was not biased. I actually didn't take a side. I simply said it was still under investigation and that all the facts are not known. My second comment is also indicative of me not being biased. I am not easily baited into senseless debate Sorry if you thought addressing me would cause me to engage.
Brookhaven999 June 11, 2014 at 07:39 am
Kristen wrote:"Your first 2 lines proved you read what into my comments what you wantedRead More to." Oh, really? The first 2 lines I wrote were "my uncle was a Teamster all his life, and I've known many tractor-trailer drivers but I'll be the LAST one to start..." So, you did read my entore posting. And more comedy:"Sorry if you thought addressing me would cause me to engage." I found your first posting ridiculous and extremely biased and I wrote a rebuttal. You didn't have to become provoked, but you obviously were :-).
KPez June 11, 2014 at 10:58 am
OK sorry, the first 3 lines. I quit reading at biased & clairvoyant. Listen, I am sure that yourRead More views are quite valid (I am not being sarcastic). I am also quite sure you have your own bias, as we all do. You mistakenly assume that I am provoked. In my experience people who start of with a subtly insulting question intend it to provoke. So I stopped right there in order to avoid becoming provoked and engaging in pointless debate, and in competition to see who can come with the best subtle zinger (because in my own pride I know I have a propensity to do so - which is not a good quality). Maybe had you asked a different question that didn't seem so insulting I would have read the rest. I made no declaration of who was was at fault in the case because this particular article only said that it was under investigation and there was no cause listed (but maybe I misread it). Also I did not read any other articles, and any other "facts" brought to bear were from comments of others who claimed to read other articles or some special knowledge (note they didn't site their sources so I have no way to validate them). So in regard to this case, no, I am not biased. Like you, I was not there. Now if you want claim that I have other bias, I may grant you that. For instance, I am bias against New Jersey drivers, but saying that does not have any bearing on the facts in this particular case nor does another truck drivers experiences. I am sure there are a number of things in my comments that others would not agree with, just as I disagree with or hold in contempt some of the comments made by others on this thread.
