Five Things You Need to Know: Oktoberfest, Book the Night, Gun Licensing

1. Seneca Valley School Board Meeting

What’s going on in your child’s school? Find out in person when meet at 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16 at the Intermediate High School in Jackson Township.

2. Book the Night at the Zelienople Public Library

Enjoy a literary evening that includes a silent auction of autographed books and works of art at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 at the Zelienople Area Public Library.

The evening includes food, beverages and music. The cost is $35 per person or $50 per couple. For more information, visit www.zelienoplelibrary.org.

3. Oktoberfest in Evans City

Oktoberfest will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 and Saturday, Sept. 21 and from 12 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 in Evans City.

A parade featuring floats, antique cars, music, local Scouts and more kicks off at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21.

4. Mosaic 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run

The second annual 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run to benefit the Mosaic Ministry of Grace Church of Harmony takes place at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21.

There will be multiple prizes for the timed 5K and a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes for the 1 Mile Fun Run. There also will be a gift basket raffle, food and games. 

Participation in this year’s event will help raise money to fund adoptions and help families in crisis through the Safe Families program, part of Bethany Christian Services.

5. Sheriff's Office: Gun Licensing

Representatives from the Butler County Sheriff's Office will be available to renew/accept License to Carry applications from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center on Rochester Road. 

The event is open to any Butler County resident.
