Five Things to Know: Cranberry Kids Castle Dedication, Zelie Mud Challenge, Sports Grille Celebration

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around the community.

1. Kid Designers' Playtime

Did your student help design the Today section of the Cranberry Kids Castle at Cranberry Community Park? CTCC invites you to bring your membership card for a brief pre-opening play period on the new playground from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25.

2. Cranberry Kids Castle Dedication Ceremony

Join Cranberry Township and CTCC for the Kids Castle Dedication Ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 at Cranberry Community Park.

The Kids Castle playground, which replaced the wooden Playtime Palace, was built with support from the Cranberry CUP and is  a joint project of the residents and businesses of Cranberry Township.

3. Cranberry Board of Supervisors Meeting

Find out in person what’s going on in township government. Cranberry’s board of supervisors will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 inside council chambers at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center.

4. Zelienople Mud Challenge

Are you ready to get down and dirty? The Zelienople Mud Challenge kicks off at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 in the Zelienople Community Park parking lot.

The race includes two different courses: a beginner 1.5 mile loop and a more advanced 3 mile loop. 

Obstacles include a muddy pit, tires, army crawling under a cargo net, baby pools filled with mud, hay bales to climb, logs to jump over, dirt mounds to climb up and down, trees to weave in and out of, and crossing a stream.

The cost of the race is $30 for singles, $75 for a family of three, $90 for a family of four and $110 for a family of five.

Those interested in registering may do so by printing out the form and mailing it in or by registering online. The first 200 registered will get a race T-shirt.

Registration also will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. on race day. 

5. Sports Grille at Cranberry Celebrates One-Year Anniversary

The Sports Grille at Cranberry, located on Freedom Road, will celebrate one year in business at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.

Activities include birthday cake, clowns and balloons for kids as well as plenty of champagne for adults. Musical guest Nick Marzock will perform at 7:30 p.m. Key of X will take the stage at 10:30 p.m.
