Red Cross West-Central Chapter Names Interim Executive Director

Scott Snyder is leaving the chapter covering Butler County.

Elizabeth Township resident Rick Elster was named interim executive director of the American Red Cross West-Central Pennsylvania Chapter, which includes Butler, Beaver, Lawrence and Mercer counties.

“I am extremely excited about this position,” Elster said. “During my six years with the Red Cross, I have witnessed first-hand how our organization can truly help those in need. I am honored that, in my new role, I will help to ensure that the Red Cross continues to be a vital resource to the residents of Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties.”

A Vietnam War veteran who was the national sales manager for Veryfine Juices Inc. before retirment, Elster replaces Scott Snyder, who has accepted a position outside of the organization. Snyder will remain with the Red Cross through the end of the month and help Elster's transition. The Red Cross is forming a search committee to find a permanent executive director.
