Pittsburgh Tour de Cure Rolls into Cranberry Township

Bicycle ride for the American Diabetes Association this Sunday.

Over 500 cyclists will ride into Cranberry Township this Sunday, June 23, for the 16th annual Pittsburgh Tour de Cure

The event begins at Seneca Valley High School and will raise money for the American Diabetes Association.

Participants can register now for $25 or the morning of the event for $35. All riders must raise at least $200 in fundraising money. There are five different routes for cyclists to choose from, and they can ride individually or in teams.

The fundraising goal for this year’s ride is $296,000 and is not far away with $141,680 already raised, according to the Tour de Cure website.

At last year’s event, 600 cyclists raised $240,000, according to Renee Schwartz, the event manager for the Pittsburgh Tour de Cure.

There are over 80 other tours across the country.

Schwartz said the Tour de Cure has “routes designed for the occasional rider to the experienced cyclist.”

Start times on Sunday vary by route.

Here is what you need to know to check in the day of the event:

  • The 8 mile family fun ride checks in at 10 am and starts at 11 am.

  • The 20/30 mile ride checks in at 8:30 am and starts at 9:30 am

  • The 50 mile ride checks in at 7:00 am and starts at 8:00 am

  • The 100 mile ride checks in at 6:00 am and starts at 6:30 am.
