Holiday Worship: Cranberry Community United Presbyterian Fulfills Wish Lists with Giving Tree

Throughout December, Cranberry Patch will profile holiday happenings at local churches.

The community room at is starting to fill up with toys, including Barbie dolls, trucks, crayons and action figures.

This is the week the good people of the church are shopping for people they don't know -- and will likely never meet.

The church began December with dozens of names taken from a Giving Tree.

After services, church members selected a paper star bearing the name and the wish list of an area child or adult in need. By the weekend, the kind shoppers will return with the gifts to the church for distribution.

So far, more than 200 names have been taken, but a few wishlists remain and are available for anyone --church member or not--who would like to help. Members plan to gather and wrap the gifts later this month.
