Donations for Gleaners Food Bank Welcome at Cranberry's Park Place Neighborhood

Supplies may be dropped off at the sales center on Powell Road.

Cranberry’s Park Place, a neo-traditional neighborhood located off of Powell Road, will be an official drop-off point for the Gleaners Food Bank of Cranberry through Nov. 30.

Gleaners Food Bank is a nonprofit providing food to township residents in need who meet the eligibility requirements. Linda Heery, director of the Gleaners Food Bank, is gearing up for a busy season at the food bank, a statement from Northwood Realty Services, which is selling homes in the neighborhood.

“Our busiest time at the food bank begins in September and lasts through the early spring,” Heery said. “The time for heating bills seems to go hand in hand with the increased attendance at our food bank. In addition, I have noticed an increase in new clients as well as a return of former clients over the past few months. Job loss seems to be the reason for the increase in clients we are starting to see. We especially appreciate the support of the community as it allows us to continue to provide for the needy in our town.”

Heery listed some of the much-needed items as peanut butter, pasta, pasta sauce, canned tuna, canned chicken, and cereals. Personal care items, including shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes and detergent, and various paper products also are needed.

Donations may be dropped off at the Park Place sales center between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. seven days a week. Park Place is located at 2189 Powell Road.
