Cranberry Lions, Girl Scouts, Collect Glasses for Needy

The Lions also are collecting gently-used shoes for Soles 4 Souls throughout December.

People throughout the area and beyond will be seeing more clearly thanks to a joint project between the Cranberry Township Area Lions Club and members of Cranberry's Girl Scout Troop 20555.

The Lions recently collected and recycled more than a 1,000 pairs of used eyeglasses that will be given to children, teens and adults in Southwestern Pennsylvania and to those in third-world countries, the Cranberry Lions said.

With the help of the Girl Scouts, the glasses were sorted, processed and packed. Lions member Janet Konig coordinated the effort.
