Cranberry's Thursdays in the Park Concert Series Continues

Gather friends and family to catch some of the free concerts at Rotary Amphitheatre.

There is still plenty of summer left to enjoy the free, open-air concerts held in Cranberry Township Community Park. Even the parking is free!

The concerts are held every Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the Bring your own chairs and blankets. The Cranberry Rotary offers refreshments for sale.

July 19.  Street level.  This eclectic, eight member ensemble draws repertoire from a variety of musical genres including Motown, funk, classical rock, modern country and pop hits in what they characterize as a ‘classic horn band style.’ 

July 26.  Pittsburgh Philharmonic.  Classical music has been this 60-member symphony orchestra’s forte, both as performers and as music educators.  The North Hills-based orchestra has been performing 10 to 15 concerts annually for the past 30 years.

August 2.  Donna Bailey & Kenny Blake Quartet.  Cool jazz vocalist and local favorite Donna Bailey meets city jazz saxophonist Kenny Blake and his quartet for a program of musical sophistication featuring both jazz standards and original compositions. 

August 9.  Jill West and Blues Attack.  Vocalist Jill West leads this Pittsburgh-based, hard-edged dance blues quintet which received its blues education playing in the city’s smoky bars and sharing the stage with various musical greats. 

August 16.  Softwinds.  This versatile Pittsburgh-based doo-wop group, whose origins date back to 1960, specializes in songs featuring progressive voice scores and tight group harmonies including “At the hop,” “I only have eyes for you,” and “Runaround Sue.” 

Need some Friday lunchtime entertainment? Enjoy the series of four free lunchtime concerts held Fridays at noon at the Municipal Center lawn gazebo. 

Scheduled performances include:

July 20.  Craig Zinger.  Pianist/singer Craig Zinger, who made a dramatic career switch from CPA to musician, has performed in concert with a number of nationally-known artists and currently has four recordings under his belt.

July 27.  Pittsburgh Banjo Club.  Club programs, mostly featuring banjos, but with trumpets, tuba and bass thrown in for good measure, typically consist of sing-alongs, vocals, banjo solos, music from the ‘20s and ‘30s, polkas and Dixieland. 

August 3.  Jay Hitt.  This songwriter, arranger and folk-style performer has used his acoustic guitar to help tell easily understood musical stories to audiences both at concerts throughout the country and in broadcasts over the air. 

August 10.  Nancy Deckant.  This singer/songwriter/guitarist is also an accomplished graphic artist and a coordinator of the Pittsburgh Songwriters Network.
