Cranberry Community Days 2013 Kicks Off This Week

The three-day event concludes with a fireworks display.

It’s that time of year again. Cranberry Community Days kicks off this week—and promises to be bigger than ever.

Sponsored by the nonprofit Cranberry Township Community Chest, the three-day event, which promotes and raises money for local volunteer and nonprofit organizations, will be held Thursday, July 11 through Saturday, July 13 at Cranberry Community Park.

New this year are more vendor booths with a simplified layout. Booths will no longer be located on the upper level of the park.

Several trees in the park also will be “yarn bombed,” or enveloped in colorful knitting. The festival also includes an expanded art show, a larger carnival and a free area for kids activities.

Cranberry also will present “Broadway in the Park,” a concert featuring local performers singing Broadway favorites. Another new addition is a movie night following the car cruise contest.

Activities also are taking place before the official start of the celebration.

At 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, the Westinghouse-Cranberry Volunteer Fire Company Golf Outing will be held at Cranberry Highlands Golf Course. Proceeds from the event benefit recruitment for the fire company as well as the Cranberry Kids Castle, CTCC’s community project of the year.

The Martinis with Monet art show will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 10 at the Cranberry Municipal Center.

On Thursday, July 11, before the park opens for the festival, the Four Pillars of Cranberry Invitational Luncheon honoring the community’s business, religion, government and nonprofit organizations will be held at the Cranberry Highland Golf Club.
