Small Town Living

Sharing and Caring in Evans City.

One of the joys of living in a small town is that people care about each other and are willing to help those in tough situations that come about in the community.

Shaffer's Beauty Shop, here in Evans City, recently held a raffle and tailgate party to benefit the Evans City Food Cupboard. The Shaffers raffled off two Steelers game tickets for an upcoming game. They were won by Jewel Solomon.

Even though the Steelers lost the game last week against the Oakland Raiders, the food cupboard won big time.

Marilyn McElhinny, food cupboard director, was presented a check for $6000 from the Shaffer Family.  Ms. McElhinny was overjoyed with the donation and said, with the upcoming holidays, this would be a great help.

The Shaffer family said they couldn't have done this without the help of family, friends and patrons participating and would like to extend a big thank you for making this a huge success.
