Pittsburgh Penguins Rally Planned Friday

Allegheny County will host a rally in celebration of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals to face the Boston Bruins.

The event will take place at noon on Friday, May 31, in the courtyard of the Allegheny County Courthouse located at 436 Grant Street in downtown Pittsburgh. 

WDVE’s Val Porter will emcee the rally, which will feature the following four contests for Penguins fans:·         

  1. Best Penguins Costume/Best-Dressed Penguins Fan
  2. Best Penguins Cheer
  3. Best Penguins Banner/Sign
  4. Best Player Look-Alike
Winners of the contests will be determined by audience vote.

Prizes include Kennywood passes, Panera gift cards, county pool passes and county golf course passes. 

The rally will feature free giveaways, while supplies last, including rally towels from the Pittsburgh Penguins, Penguins rally signs from Allegheny County, iced tea from Turner Dairy Farms and Penguins cookies from the Oakmont Bakery. KDKA Radio will sponsor games for fans. There will be live musical performances from Freddie Nelson, as well as the Kardasz Brothers. Free face painters will be on hand, and Penguins mascot Iceburgh will welcome fans and pose for pictures.

Those attending the rally are also asked to bring nonperishable food items or cash donation for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
