Taking a page from the Pittsburgh Penguins’ playoff playbook, Ross Township financial specialist David E. Martin thinks an giant outdoors screen should be set up to allow fans without PNC Park tickets to watch the Pirates, should they make the playoffs.
“Why not? Can you imagine the excitement of such a venue?” asked Martin. “The Pirates have made summer fun again in Pittsburgh, and let’s face it, there are way more fans than available seats at PNC Park.”
Martin has approached several organizations, including the Pirates, the Steelers, the H.J. Heinz Company and others about setting up an outdoor venue for the playoffs.
He’s even started a Facebook page so fans can add their suggested venues.
“We need to get the planning for this done now,” said Martin. “It may be for just one wildcard game, or hopefully, right through the World Series. It worked well for the Penguins, why not the Pirates?”
