Whiz Kids: Seneca Valley Singers, Musicians Hit a High Note

More than a dozen chorus members are chosen for a PMEA festival. Several orchestra students also earn regional and state accolades.

Seneca Valley’s singers and musicians are hitting a high note.

Fifteen Seneca Valley middle and intermediate high school students recently were chosen for the 2013 Pennsylvania Music Educator Association’s District 5 Junior High Chorus Festival.

These students traveled to New Castle in February to rehearse and perform with students from a four-county area.

The freshmen chosen for this honor are: Brianna Hammel, Carinne Geil, Maddie Fry, Mitch Lachat, Josh DePasquale and Kevin Klobchar.

The nine Seneca Valley Middle School eighth grade students are: Karina Latsko, Hollen Davinsizer, Leah Dietle, Sara Panetta, Kimberly McGinnis, Lucy Geronime, Jacob Pelloni, Braden White and Johnathan Baktay.

Three Seneca Valley students also earned Regional Orchestra and PMEA Festival honors. They are Alexander Park, Sophie Petinaux and Travis Slopek.

At the PMEA All-State Festival, Sophie received first chair in the Violin II section, Travis received third chair in the Violin II section, and Alex received sixth chair in the Violin I section.
