Whiz Kids: Seneca Valley Artists Receive Congressional Recognition

Senior Taylor Lantz wins first place in Congressional Art Competition.

Four students recently were recognized as top performers in U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire’s district for the 31st annual Congressional Art Competition.

Senior Taylor Lantz was chosen as the winner of the contest, which is sponsored by the Congressional Art Caucus. Her classmates Bria Davis, Tyler Dorsch and Deanna Magiske all were finalists.

Students from Altmire’s district were invited to submit original works of art to be judged for the exhibition. A total of 53 pieces were evaluated on behalf of Altmire by a panel of local art experts.

As the winner, Lantz will have her work displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. for the next year. The exhibition also features exceptional artwork from all 435 of the nation’s congressional districts.
